well, i just paid $22 for a new fuel filter..
i found the old 1 on the car, but neither me nor my dad can seem to get it off..
if we try un-bolting either of the lines going into it, the whole filter spins, and its slippery since gas is leaking out on it..
any tips on how to get the old one off?

edit: i bought the filter to see if it will help my cars lack-of-power at low RPM, (i made a post a few days ago about this, and 1 person suggested fuel filter, so im trying the cheapest first.)

just be carefull with the lines. but your replacing the filter so you can tear that up all you want. i would use some big channel locks to hold the filter or an impact on the bolts. and the new filter comes with new bolts SOMETIMES.

you can even unbolt the filter from the fire wall if that would help you.

well, its done.. replaced.
it runs a bit smoother and instead of laggin till 3.5k it lags until 2.8k (still something wrong w/ engine.. valve timing?)

you guys would not believe the amount of crap that was in the old filter, i empted out the old filter into a coffee filter--
it got about 1/2 way emptied and then stopped because it clogged up the coffee filter in dirt and black/brown crap. it had about a cm layer of dirt and rust n shit-- i took pics ill post em shortly..
iv never seen a fuel filter replacemnt before but im sure they arent supposed to be that dirty.

well you might wanna put some injectors also. but i highly recomend a complete tune up.

i did a tuneup about a month ago--everything but the fuel filter and valve timing which was done today (not the timing)

You mean valve clearances?

maybe the 'sock' on the pump is missing or has come off.....if that's the case, you would be getting all that crap straight to the filter. Very bad.

man with all the crap going to that filter you may want to have your injectors cleaned

i like wix but there are a few diff kinds. IMO a fuel filter is a fuel filter. i dont think you can make those to much diff.
