i have upgrade all my battery wireing to 4 guage exept the alternator.what i want to know is where does the positve wire(white)on top of alternator lead to?as well wich of the other wires is ground and where does it lead to. btw my alt has the two wire plug.i want to upgrade . these wires as well. hopefully that will eliminate the dimming i get when my subs are cranked.if not then ill have to invest in a cap or 4th gen alt. :werd:

but not just the ground all positive leads to as little resistence as possible is my goal without going 0 gauge.im running audiobahn high current seiries amps bridged to 1 ohm.these things are power hogs nowamean

oh man i'm sorry.
i used 8 gauge which made a big difference.i only did ground though.
okay, the best places for ground. be prepared to read.
first i kept the regular ground and used the new wire also.
made a main post or wire system for the ground.
then had one wire leaving from, there to near the vacuum box.
there near the alternator mounting frame.
there to near the ignition coil.
there to on the vavle cover.
there to on the dizzy frame.
like i said it was a good idea . . . . .
cause at first whenever my system hit a bass note the idle would go down.
the acceleration was a lil better.
it was alot better.
and the resistance was low was either .01 or.02.
hope this helps!

I think the positive wire from the alt goes to the fuse box in the engine compartment, and from there to the battery. I have actually been thinking about upgrading this wire myself. I don't see why you couldn't just run straight from the alt to the battery but you might want to put some kind of fuse on it just in case. One problem might be getting a large 4guage ring terminal to fit on the alt terminal without grounding out against the alt housing.
