This is the package to show you this bar is really an 90-93 bar

Cut the braket from the plate
http://www.clubaccordquebec.com/temp/l3g10n/strutbar8689/DSC01753sm.jpg

to get this part
http://www.clubaccordquebec.com/temp/l3g10n/strutbar8689/DSC01754sm.jpg

You'll have to cut with a dremel in the plate to be able to get this one. and weld the plate to get this result
http://www.clubaccordquebec.com/temp/l3g10n/strutbar8689/DSC01755sm.jpg

Here's the difference between the 90-93(left) and the 86-89 custom(right)

Now, talk about the rear one.
Here's the 90-93

and here's the 86-89 finished

So, it's really simple to do this. I'll take some pics on a car soon.

Holy shit, thats not fucking simple...unless you know how to weld... -_-

welding is simple. Just take an extension cord and trim the positive lead so theres a few inches of copper showing and make sure you have a Zinsco house panel, rubber mount to be grounded on and dont get caught in the circiut. Im an electricin trust me on this one

For those of you dumb enough to try this DONT. Its a Joke at 2 am. HA HA

Yep it fit perfect for any injected car or weber carburated.
For the welding, if you're not able to weld, some shop can do it for you really cheap. So, that's why i told you that this mods was really simple.

what about heating it up and pounding it into shape?

if you do this, the plate will wave. I've tryed this.

The only way to get theses bars to look like stock is to cut to remove the excess of metal and get the form we need.

pretty cool. i know about that thing with the electrical cord. lol. it does basicly the same thing as a welder does, but is useless. my friend has a welder, i'm sure i'll be using it soon. i should just buy one of my own.

Question: why did you cut the bracket from the plate on the front mount? Couldn't the mod be done with the bracket still attached?

L3G10N
07-06-2004, 10:21 AM
nah you have to relocate the bracket. The plate need to be turned a bit.
You'll see this soon.

This is the reason why you cannot buy any brand for the front bar. I just don't remember if this one is a ractive or a Pilot.

I'll be back on this in a few days.

when I asked Justin about how he made his rear bars he said he heated and bent the mounts to make the rear.

the plate bended when i tryed this. Maybe i overheated the plate.

I have been wanting to try this, Me and Vinny talked about the 4g accord rear bars fitting. I told him that I wanted to try but no welding skills. :( But fortunatley for me I have some buddies that weld so maybe I will have to try this out. Good job on the pioneering!!! Woot-Woot!

Exactly!

Blazin, not that bad. When i'll get the final touch, i'll see exactly how many times it took me. Maybe i'll produce more than one.

My brother want a set for his hatch.

here's 3 new pics. Still haven"t finish the front one cause my car is still at the body shop for his new paints/bodykit custom.

But for now, it looks like this.

From up to down:
Carotman's rear strut bar
Mine rear strut bar
Mine Front Strut bar
http://www.clubaccordquebec.com/temp/l3g10n/strutbar8689/DSC00582sm.jpg

Compare mine to carot's one
http://www.clubaccordquebec.com/temp/l3g10n/strutbar8689/DSC00583sm.jpg

and a small close up of my front strut repainted(same if i will need to grind it again).
http://www.clubaccordquebec.com/temp/l3g10n/strutbar8689/DSC00584sm.jpg

What's left is to put the plate on the shock tower and place the bar over to see where i need to weld the braket.

Maybe this post will need to be put in the How-To section?

hey i also heard a 94-97 rear sturt tower bar is very similar to an 89 setup...but i would be with some modding too... btw nice work..

L3G10N
03-19-2005, 07:37 AM
in fact, 90-97 have the same suspension. So, yeah, it's really possible that the 94-97 will be similar to the 86-89 since the 90-93 are REALLY similar to the 86-89

nice work. so is it posible to get biffrent types of bars instead of that one?

03-19-2005, 12:53 PM
Funky, can;'t believe i never saw this thread before... I might have to give this a try... so, are the bars the right length? and what brand of bars did you use?

L3G10N
03-19-2005, 05:21 PM
Cheesburger: Yes you can get different type of bar to do this but for the front, Be sure that the strut piece are molded in two parts just like mine or you won't be able to split 'em in two parts to relocate the upper parts on the bottom plate.

Hash_Man_Se_i: Yes the length are exactly the same between 3rd gen and 4th gen Accord. And i used a Vibrant Front Strut Bar and a Ractive rear one. For Carotman's rear strut, it's a no name rear 4th gen Accord brand.

My next try will be the lower tie bar. But i don'T know wich brand are available for this part for accord 90-93 and for a reasonable price. I mean, if i have to do some test, a DC lower Tie Bar will be a lot expensive for this.

just wanted everyone to know im going to make my own this same way, im in metal shop right now, woo hoo!
Ill get some pics of it when its installed

I've did my test about the lower Tie Bar. You can buy any 90-97 lower tie bar. It will fit your 3geez without any modification.

My test was did with a Megan Racing accord 94-97 on my Se-I cross-member.

this is kinda an old thread but im bringing back cause i bought the front and rear uppers for the 90-97 accord, cut the bracktes and blah blah did everything like is shown in the pictures and the back ones one good, definaly feel a difference but the front one is to short lengh wise and hight wise so just tyring to see if this guy actually ever posted any pictrues of the front one on the car cause mine doesnt fit and im kickin myself in the pants cause i should have checked the length and eveything before i cut and re-welded the brakcets cause i got some buddys with thr 4th gen's so i coulda re-sold it to them but not know, im thinking im might just cut the bar shorter and make a rear lower, so yea anybody have any pics of the 90-97 accord front upper strut bar actually on our cars, thanks

I ran into the same problem with mine, but I'm sending it back to get a different bar, the rear one I got was too short, so I have the brakets on my car but no bar.....I'm going to get some chomoly tubing and use that instead....and here I thought I was the only one........

the rear one was perfect, but hte front was a bit short. But not that much. I was able to put 'em on the car. For sure, Best thing is to get some longer bolt or do some larger topshock plate. I am working on the second option now. I'll post some pic of the new one soon. I don't have any pics of the bar on my car too since my car is in the body shop see there (http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44019) .

If guys want to show me which bar you all have, i can do the front plate for everyone for the price of the metal i'll need to buy + ship. It depends on wich bar you have.

Just as the rear lower too, it's a tight fit too. I have removed 3mm at each side of the bar cause it was too large.

pretty much anything with the right length would work, you just have to customize the mounting plates... Me and a friend are going to try this soon as he just bought himself I nice shiney new miller. I'm pretty stoked.

just on a side note, for the rear upper strut bar you dont have to heat and bend it, you can cut and re-weld just like the front plates, i was gonna try bending but when i went to use the oxy torch i ran outta acetelene (spelling?)so i just cut it and re-welded it, works just fine, figured id let some of you guys know just incase you didnt have a source of heat
