well since you are carbed you are looking into a lot of work.
who ever will do the swap will have to convert to EFI or go with stand a lone EFI.
i think you are looking around $10K -15k for B series swap if some shop will do it for you.

other than the b20A the next cheapest swap would be the b16. The b16 swap will run well over 5k from what I have been told by members who have done them. And thats doing it themselves without a shop doing all the work. Everything you need to get your research started is in the links I posted above. DO yourself a foavopr and read through them to get some kind of educated idea on which was you might want to go

H22, haha. Shop sounds like a bunch of newbs. B16 swap will run 5-6K if you install everything yourself. Other than the JDM B20, that's the cheapest swap.

How much heavier could it be... our block is cast iron, the h22 is aluminum.

H22 weighs 385 lb. That's close to an A20, maybe even a little lighter. The problem is mounts, axles, wiring, shifter cables. Not worth the trouble, IMO.

He could buy another car and turbo charge it. For instance, an 89-90 240sx:
14b turbo -$60
2.5" mandrel bent downpipe bolts to stock cat. -$20
stock DSM sidemount - $15
2.5" mandrel bent cold pipe - $15
1g talon BOV - $40
adjustable wastegate actuator 4-10psi - part of turbo cost
stock KA maf - stock
stock KA injectors - stock
stock KA internals - stock
-4 earls racing oil feed line -$30
1/2" oil return tube welded into pan. - nothing.

If you know how to weld the total cost would be under $350 max, or can get your own exhaust mani built for around $300 plus the parts cost above for an extra 50 to 75 ponies on an already 145bhp engine (135bhp crank), without having to worry about tuning or doing fuel mods, do this.. They are also very light (the cars).

The stock injectors and maf don't experience problems until around 10psi according to the guy who built and uses this recipe.

Or, just turbo what you got! :)

Man for that kind of money you will be beter off buying another car.

If everyone did that, you'd never see a modded car.

Well, if you're just looking for a cheap fast car, I can't help but notice you have an 87 Aerocoupe at your availability. The A20 responds well to mods, that's not the problem, it's the availability of aftermarket parts, so if you can do things yourself you can get a fairly quick car going.
