Iam replacing engine in 89 LXi so Iam going to replace clutch. Iam looking into an better than stock, performance clutch. I need some recommendations from actual owners of performance clutches. Also pro's and con's of clutch in use would be helpful.

Thanks for the help

I have a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch in my '88 LX. It's currently burning out, I believe due to a poor install. Pros of the Centerforce for me:
-It's smooth.
-It's econimcal for a performance clutch.
-Supposedly has a 90% increase in holding capacity, but how the heck will that make any difference for me unless I've really upped the performance of my car?

Cons:
-It's smooth (I'd like for a performance clutch to have a bit more bite, personally).
-My mechanic said he had a hard time getting the flywheel to fit correctly (hence the poor install and the early degradation of the clutch's performance).
-Price - even though this thing is <$200, without some great engine mods there's not much point in having a performance clutch.

Hope this helps!

I've never heard anything good about any dual friction clutch on any street driven import, never driven one myself though. I run a act hd plate and street disk and it grips like hell. I've been beating the crap out of it for over 6 months now and I haven't had one complaint.

I strongly urge u against using a dual friction centerforce clutch. They have rubber viration dampners that are to weak for hard dricing and break out of the clutch disk. I had 1 that they warentied a few years back because it only was in my car for 4 months the next one lasted six months then i went to an action clutch and have only had to replace the puck once in the last 6 years. They dont have vibration dampeners in them so you get more drivline shock 'downside' but they do make act clutches with real sping dampners not ruber ones so I'm sure the act clutch would be just fine!

I run the ACT heavy duty and six puck copper. It really lets you put the power down. This thing bites so much everyone in my family hates to drive the car. I don't know much about the Centerforce though.

I am running an ACT part# HA2-HDSS on my old accord. I do like it but i would want to step up a level. This one feels like my Honda Clutch with a bit more grab to it. When i do a swap on my other accord i will be using them again because i think they are good and i am pleased with my other clutch plus the make them in turbo applications as well.

I have the centerforce and hate it. It currently needs to be replaced. It grips about the same as a stock honda clutch.

The thing about the centerforce is that it uses a stock pressure plate, so that sucks about it.

Question for all that used a centerforce dual fricion did you guy do the entire 500 mile break in period off not applying full engine power because if not it will not align to the flywheel correctly.

The break in doesnt have anything to do with the vibration dampner breaking out of the clutch and ruining the whole presure plate. twice! but yes the first one i was really easy on if at first. You dont have to be with the clutch I have now!

Hey guys, help me to make choice...

I need street performance clutch. I want to buy CENTERFORCE Dual Friction... I think it's good compomiss for street/race driving. What you can say about it? I have about $200-250 for clutch and i need it to get better 0-60, 1/4 mile times, but i will drive my car in the high traffic on the city too - and it's will be a little bit smooth too...

Sorry for bad english. :p

ACT clutch. Don't get a freakin 3 puck race clutch or something for street driving; you'll be breraking your foot out from under the dash everytime.
