Well, the 3rd annual CT meeting as the shit! Had a lot of fun racing all of you and just for the record .......... I was the fastest of the slowest at the Go Kart place! lol

the first heat consisted of Maurice, Leo (Maurice's friend), Rob, Joe (Rob's Friend), Phil (NSWST)

These guys didnt even get through the first turn of the first lap without a crash. They looked like the badnews bears!!!

Mark takes the cake for being off the road the longest then im trailing right behind him. The early spring weather motivated me but my car is in a million pieces for paint which is motivating as i want to put it back together so i can use my garage.

I miss the good old days i definitely had some fun and enjoyed the meets we had! I will be up for a meet maybe i will have some progress to show by then.

btw, I'm not happy about that title of having the car off the road the longest. ...but the truth is the truth. I was contemplating selling it as-is to move on and make room for my other projects, and even talked to Steve about it a few months back, but I just can't bring myself to get rid of it just yet.

I hear you i thought of it many times but it would not be justified with the money i dumped over the years. I have Ksports on the coupe now but have my koni's as a back up. Its definitely slow going but at this point who cares i just want it done and i own out right 90% of what i need to finish it.

I feel like i have out grown the project but i still want the satisfaction of driving it and to say i finished it. Plus the few of us that have held on know its even more challenging now than it was before so it makes me want to push through.

Amen to that. I completely agree about outgrowing the project. I've got so many other projects, each of which has a real purpose, even if it's just fun Sunday driving. When I first started with my hatch, it was my Daily, and I was building a Sound-Q monster. That was finished, then squashed due to the car being stolen. When I got it back, it became clear that dumping over $4k into another stereo was not smart. At that point, the direction changed to performance.

Because I had another 3G as my daily, I focused this on a serious SCCA road-course competitor. ...shortly after getting knee-deep in the project, I found myself owning my own home, expecting my first kid, getting married, etc, so the 3G just picked up residence in my garage.

Nearly 8 years later, parts are damn near impossible to find compared to so many years ago, and the shape of SCCA has changed so much that the car wouldn't even be close to competitive, so racing it is no longer an option.

It's an 89, and in CT you're not emissions exempt until the car is 25 years old. ...and with dual carbs and the rest of the current setup, there's no way on God's green earth that I'd pass emissions. ...so I can't register it for another 2-3 years.

...then there's the fact that I've got a truck which will also serve as an off-road toy. A V-Rod that's perfect for a Sunday ride. My Protege as a DD. ...and life. ...so the 3G doesn't really fit anywhere, but I'll be damned if I'm going to abandon ship on yet another unfinished project.

Because I had another 3G as my daily, I focused this on a serious SCCA road-course competitor. ...shortly after getting knee-deep in the project, I found myself owning my own home, expecting my first kid, getting married, etc, so the 3G just picked up residence in my garage.

Nearly 8 years later, parts are damn near impossible to find compared to so many years ago, and the shape of SCCA has changed so much that the car wouldn't even be close to competitive, so racing it is no longer an option.

It's an 89, and in CT you're not emissions exempt until the car is 25 years old. ...and with dual carbs and the rest of the current setup, there's no way on God's green earth that I'd pass emissions. ...so I can't register it for another 2-3 years.

...then there's the fact that I've got a truck which will also serve as an off-road toy. A V-Rod that's perfect for a Sunday ride. My Protege as a DD. ...and life. ...so the 3G doesn't really fit anywhere, but I'll be damned if I'm going to abandon ship on yet another unfinished project.

2-3 years, sounds like yah got time until it becomes historic, in the mean time if it could be driven right now , you could try applying for a "collectors" registration.
