carotman stole my thunder, but I figured I might as well join the party. She is just sitting on the mounts and I obviously have a bit more work to do to get her running, but should be done in few days. I'll do a full write up on mine then too.

Now, I'm getting really anxious to get mine from Rob, but I want to get some work done on it first. But definately keep us posted on the progress.

so were the B16 swaps. You swap freaks :) but damn, a different motor is always a pride to have. Like me, even tho its gonna be a A20, nice work fellas.

I have been piecing together the motor/tranny and all the other bits and pieces for about 9 months. I began the actual swap last weekend.

Good! What kind of ECU will you run? from the looks of it it looks like a PK2 distributor... so I guess the PK2 ecu will follow.

I got tired of the dual sensor setup and I used tom coleman's 4 wire conversion... which doesn't seem to work as expected (unless my sensor is bad)

I plan to use a PM6.

Good work!

really nice looking motor, get us pics of the complete swap if you have them.

Any major problems so far?

Yep, I'll be using a PK2 ECU. The distributor is from a 88-91 Prelude SI and is internally exactly the same as the B20A distributor. The reason I used the Prelude distributor is it was actually cheaper to buy the Prelude distributor than buy the cap and rotor for the B20A.

I also drilled and tapped another hole in my exhaust manifold for the second O2 sensor. I looked at the 4-wire conversion, but I don't see how that would work properly. You are wiring two electrical circuits together which should result in a short or incorrect resistance.

After I get the thing running, I'll post a detailed description of the ECU wiring.

Nothing too major, but I'm not done yet! I can't get the intermediate shaft to fit, I think because it's from an automatic. I also had to custom fabricate brackets for the A20 A/C pump.

Cheap my ass, if they were cheap I would have a running one right now. I have nearly a grand invested, and still have another grand to go.

classic swap!

i give you props!

big deals for b16 swap, what's the point on a heavy ass g3 accord. you need tq! b20 or h22 is the proper way to go...

ahhahah h22 in an accord, maybe you should try that shit jesse and tell us how goes it.

Just wanted to update this and let you all know that I got her running tonight. It took me a while to get the ignition wiring sorted out (since I am using a Prelude ECU), but once I got it right, she fired right up. I still need to go back through and make the wires neat and tidy, and I need to track down some shielded wire, but she should be on the road either tomorrow or the next day.

Now I need some sleep...

3g accords, depending on the model, weigh from 2650 lbs to close of 2800lbs. For a stock car packing all the goods like pwr winds, locks, and all such. Its not heavy at all my man. Its actually hella light. Ever wonder why u can keep up with a 265hp maxima with ur car even tho u got bearly 130hp (with mods i mean)? thats why ;)

Gregg, what transmission are you running. The F2K5 or the B2K5.

I have the B2K5 and I wanted to compare the gear ratio just to make sure it's the same as the F2K5.

Mine is a B2K5 also. I am pretty sure they have the same ratios, but I don't recall exactly why I think that. I am pretty sure the overall gear ratio is taller than the A20 tranny, but that's just my seat-of-the-pants feeling after driving the car for a few days. The speedo is definitely reading a bit low.

actually, the gears are shorter I think. With my DX tranny, revs were 2500rpm at 60mph in 5th gear. now the revs are: 3000rpm at 60mph in 5th gear.

that's wierd, i would think that since you guy's have stick the rpm's would be lower at 60mph, compared to an auto . .. . . . .

That's strange, my butt-o-meter is telling me a different story, but it's been known to be wrong before. :)

My GF has an 86 DX, so I'll do some comparisons to her car and see what the differences are.

butt dyno cannot tell small powers gains differences. But i'm sure your car is faster now.

well, ill tell you guys right now with my b20a the top speed is lower then it was with the a20a, but i love it anyways, way better acceleration! :)

Gregg86DX

Ok, after several more daily commutes, I agree with you guys that the overall gearing is definitely shorter. I am also around 3K rpm on the freeway. I'm not real excited about that, since I commute about 30 miles, each way, mostly on the freeway. My speedometer is definitely reading low too. I had to use the speedo gear thingy from my A20, because my B20 tranny did not have the right piece. That may be causing the incorrect speedo readings. One option I may look at is using a bit taller tire. I am running 205-40-17 now and I don't care for the ultra-low profile tire. I might step up to a 45 series to raise my overall ratio some.

Carotman i the f2k5 in 5th gear i am at 2600Rpm's at 60mph but my tire size is 205/40/17's that might make a difference why my rpms are lower i am just guessing.

It wouldnt matter if you had 22" wheels, the speedo would still read the same at any rpm's. The speedo reads the speed from the final drive and the speed can only match with the stock tire circumference unless the speedometer is not precise anymore.
