Hello,

Here is my first post, being a GM guy on a Honda board. I have a 80 Firebird, two 86 TA's, a 76 Chevy truck, etc. Just bought a little 86 :rice: rocket EXi Accord for dirt cheap. And now I want to tinker EFI like I do with my TA.

I've started reading a little bit about the ECU exploits here on Accords, and I have to say, the 82-92 Camaro/Firebird scene has WAY more stuff going on in terms of tuning. I don't know the import scene at all, but I always thought the Honda boyz  were all over it, I have to say I've been surprised so far.

Anyways, I thought I'd do some PROM burning, until finding out the Honda ECM doesn't even have a PROM? At least that's what I thought I'd read. So, started reading lots about swapping to GM ECM's, which really put a bee in my bonnet  , didn't think I'd ever see that!

Anyways, I'd like some info on what ECM you swap to in the GM family, the 730 SD MAP system? I've heard the 165 ECM, but I know that the 165 is a ECM from my car, and is set up for MAF. Other choices maybe 749(Sy/Ty, Turbo Sunbird, Quad-4's, etc)? I have access to everything I need from junkyard, and other sources, so it's not a prob finding this stuff at all. For those who are, what Mask(ex.$6E) and BCC(ex. ARAP) did you start with for tinkering?

Also, any info on a cheap junkyard turbo setup? I have access to probably most/all of what I need, just need some info on what to go after.

Thanks,
-Dustin

i don't really know the answer to your question..., but Sean is the one that did all the work and stuff. his site is www.accordcentral.com, not sure about his email but i'm sure you could find it on his site. and as for the after market support for hondas..., there's tons, just not for our 3rd gen accords :(

I believe sean originaly used a 749 in his n/a accord. I'm pretty sure his turbo accord has a 730 in it running $58 code. I believe he started with a turbo sunbird bin, what ever the designation is for it. I'm running my turbo nova (88 hatch w/ toyota motor, not an old school one) with a 727 and $58 code. I'm using a external injector drive box that sean was selling (not sure if he still is) to make up for the lack of the extra driver in the 730/727 to fire the toyota p/h injectors.

As for cheap turbo, see if you can find a t3 on an old turbo dodge or saab or what not, a dsm turbo is a good canidate too.
