So, yah, on my way down to CA, cruising between 90-110, i was 2 1/2 hours out from home, and i start hearing a clicking, and i was thinking that doesn't sound good, then BOOM! tons of white smoke..., so i pulled over, popped the hood praying it was something simple..., and there's a 2~2.5" hole in the front of the block between cyl's 2-3. so, yah, my friends came up from CA and picked me up and and my dad's gonna pick up my 3g sometime this week. i'm thinking i'm gonna build an A20 to put in just cuz i already have so much stuff for the A20. anyways, yah. just thought i'd let ya'll know.

maybe it loose one of the nuts on the conecting rods, i have seen this on the A20A3 i bought awhile ago for my restoration project, like the vibration cause to loose the nuts or something like that when isnt at rigth torque. i using locktite 262 on the bottom end to prevent this in the future.

Oil pump could have gone, maybe a seal blew and spewed out most of the oil while he was driving. Either way, sorry to hear that...:(

i blew the oil pump in my last motor and didnt blow a hole in the block. that takes some force to do that in a cast iron block.

take pictures when you get it out!! and good luck on the new buildup.

yah, i'm not sure why it happened. i was watching my gauges and stuff, temp was perfect, oil light never came on(until it blew...). my oil was good unless i lost it all going down the road. i was really hoping to take it to the meet down here in CA too. oh well... if i can get my laptop up..., i got a pic that you can barely see the hole in. otherwise, when i get home in a month and pull the engine, i'll take a few good pics so you guys can see what really happened. until then.., i'm not even 100% sure what happened.

so ya threw a rod eh? sux ass, i'm always worried about that. that's what sux when you know too much about then internals of an engine. lol. but true. go see about an engine from a junkyard. get something kinda good, but still rebuild it or something. maybe if you can get it reasonably priced. i dunno.

How high were you revving it?

eh, i was cruising between 4-6k, mostly around 4k, going close to 100mph a lot of the time. for about 200 miles. so, prolly a little much for it... i am going to get a new engine for it, and rebuild it with a balanced crank and everything, pistons and whatnot, port and polished and everything port-matched. it'll be nice  i think i'm gonna get it balanced up to 8-9k rpms, that way 4-6k won't be so high. i'll look into it more when i'm home though.
