Ok I have an 89 Accord LX-i EFI 5 speed... OK It all started when the engine light went on and then the stupid fuel pump wouldn't kick it... then after awhile ot wouldn't kick in at all any more... So I quickly ran a wire to the Positive termainal to the battery and ran it to the fuel pump... fuel pump is getting power and it works fine like that. So I tried starting the car like that and it turned over but it wouldn't start.. Now is it possible that "Because" my motor mounts have gone to sh*t could it be possible that for any reason that the motor mounts were sh*tty it may have caused the "Timing Belt to be set off at the wrong timing, and it's causing the car not to start???? I dunno n e more... If some 1 could please give me advice or give me some pointers to correct the problem that would be great.... Thanks guy's... Lataz

Please note that what I ment by my mounts being sh*tty I also ment by the engine moving around so much could it have an effect on the timing belt to be a little off to cause it not to start???? Thanks again and sorry 4 not being more specific... ;-)

if your timing belt is tight, there's no problem with it.
just because you had bad motor mount's is not gonna cause this.
plus if it skipped a tooth it would run but would run shitty.
if it jumped a whole bunch you'll noticed a diffrence sound while the engine is starting.
the best thing to do is check for engine code's, where the ecu is located.

Thanks 4 the info bro.... As far as ECU codes go... Been there done that... One time I had code 17, and then the very last time the car ever worked it was throwing out a code 6... So from there I dunno what to do or how to go about this problem... I really want to get it working again... I hope I can... Well if u or n e one can give me some more advice or tips that would be great... Thanks... Lataz

well, if the check engine might come's on, and you hear the main relay system click, but no gas come's out UNLESS ya jump the positive line. then i belive your ecu is bad.
cause one guy was getting a code 6 also, he replaced his ecu and it ranned like a charm.

I really don't wanna give up on my 3gee..... AccordLxi2.0 Thanks bro for all the info... I really apreciate it. If this works then you will be know as the 3gee god... LOL... Thanks bro... Does anyone know if it could be ECU related??? Can an ECU really bo bad 2 the point the car wont work properly? I'm also wondering because I just read a thread about the temp sensor thats mounted to the Thermostat housing and one of the wires is cut... now I read about it in a thread that that may also be the problem from the car not starting.... could it be the ECU as well?? Thanks guy's lataz... I will try replacing the ECU and the sensor on the thermostat housing and see if the car will run.. If anyone has any imput or info please feel free to post. Thanks again guy's lataz.

if the sensor was bad the car would'nt ,or the car would be high idle, or running rich, and may not even turn on the cooling fans either.
did you replace the ecu or the temp sensor?

yeah, an ECU can go bad and be the cause of a car not running or running shitty. i'd see if you can get one at the junk yard or something for really cheap. maybe $40 at the most is what you'd wanna pay. offer like $10 to start. anyway. all the little sensors in the engine can do wierd stuff to the engine. could also be something else electrical. me and my friend took his audi to the shop this morning because the electrical system was screwed. he dont know shit about electrical, and its not my car so i dont wanna touch it. fixed all my electrical problems myself. i dunno, if your not real good with cars its worth taking it to get checked out sometimes.

So what your saying is the fuel filters could be clogged causing the fuel pump not to kick in?? Is that even possible? Also I fixed the sensor. Also before all this sh*t even happened the car would run fun most of the time except when it go hot... sometimes it would be ok even though it was hot outside. The Fuel Injection light would come on but it never affected the performance or feeling of the car... the car still ran normal with no problem.... but until one morning driving to work then shutting the car down, it never wanted to start right back up again... the only thing it does now is turn over, but no start.. I'm getting spark, cuz I've already had that tested.. Fuel pump doesn't get any power unless I jump it meaning running a wire from it to the positive termanal of the battery, but still doesn't help start it, but it is getting fuel.. I never hear the click sound anymore from the relay, already tried replacing the relay for the fuel pump but still nothing. So now I'm stuck and I'm about to give up on her and sell it for $500.00 as is condition, but I'm going to give it a few more attempts to fix it... Thats why I need help real bad to get my baby working again... someone please help me, I really need all the help I can get before I give up on my 3gee. Thanks guy's any help is greatly appreciated.

Under the dash driver side right behind the cruise control button.
These have been known to have faulty soder connection that like to break loose, you ca resoder them there is a thread on this.
Code 6 Coolant temp sensor, Code 17 Vehicle speed sensor
The manual says (1). Fuel Supply pg.56 (2). ECU pg.17, 18 (3). Map sensor pg.22-24 (3). Crank angle sensor pg.30-32 (3). Atmospheric pressure sensor pg.36 (yes this is (3)three 3s)
Hope this helps

well he's getting spark, so both crank sensor's are fine,if you check the fuses, and those are fine, it's gotta be the ecu, if you replaced the main relay and still nothing, then the ecu is burned out.
plus if the diagnostic light is doing anything, that ecu has to be bad.

Getting back to the engine not starting, even with the fuel pump wired directly, I'd like to add one thing. The main relay provides power for the fuel pump, which you bypassed, but, it also has another function, providing the voltage for the fuel injectors. You'd have to also wire the injectors directly too.
Have you already tested, repaired, or replaced the main relay? Checked fuses #1 and #10 in the dash fusebox, and fuse #1 in the underhood fuse/relay box (to eliminate the easy things)?
Oh, and if you replace the ecu, make sure it's from a '89. The pinouts ( in the Frequently Asked Questions section) show a couple pins are different from the '88 ecu, and other members have had problems with that! Hope this helps.

I have already checked all the fuses, they are all ok.... I didn't run the injectors directly but I dunno if I'm going to do that.... The good news is that I finally pulled out "THE MAIN RELAY" under the coin draw thing by the cruise control.... I dunno if it's bad... it looks like some parts do need 2 be resoldered but my boss is special ordering me one from the Honda Dealership and the cost of a Main Relay is $68.00 but since I work for an auto detail place, my Boss says we get Discounts because we detail the cars from The Honda Dealership sometime when they ask us to, so on Monday I will have a new Main Relay and hopefully my car will be working by then, if that doesn't work then I guess I'll try to replace the ECU, until then I have to wait anxously til Monday.. Damn I want it now, I want my 3gee to work, I know it sounds selfish but alot of us have delt with problems with our cars and always wanting sh*t 2 work out for the best... Well sorry for the long story but if anyone else wants to put there thoughts about this u r more than welcome to... I'll let you all know how it turns out on Monday... And thanks again guy's for being very supportive... You guy's rock! Lataz.

ok. my car continues to not turn over but crank like hell. but lately. every time it keeps crankin and no turn over. i just pop off the coin holder and start wiggling the fuse. while im cranking it. and it turns over no problem. i dont know what this means but it has something to do with the fuse. lol. replacing it perhaps shall work.

OMG I am happy to announce that My Accord is now working... Replacing the "Main Relay" fixed my problem, and she's up and running... I was so happy when I replaced the main relay and it started right on up with no hesitation. I got my Main relay from the Honda Dealership for only $42.00 and that's how much it was with the discount that I get from my work. The only thing now is the ECU is throwing out a code 10 which as I'm typing right now, I have no Idea what code 10 is, until after I post this and search what code 10 is, and hopefully it's nothing major, wish me luck... and I wanna give a BIG thank you to everyone and I mean everyone who posted here and helping me out. Thanks guy's you guy's are the best... Until next time, Lataz. :-)

ok well. so i fixed that main fuse thingy that i was wiggling. but NOW. my car wont crank at all . WTF ?! can it be that all of a sudden my starter has gone bad? i checked the fuses. ARGH. damn my 3g. i dont want to give up on it. why do i spend more time fixing my car then looking for a job? argh
EDIT:: so i did that wire from starter to positive terminal on the battery and nuthing. i checked the ECU for codes. usually it would throw the EGR code. but not anymore. it throws nuthing. blanks. jack sh!t . so can it be the ECU being bad? just recently i had the starting problems as LXI666 has posted. i fixed that by figuring out that it was the main relay fuse thingy. it started. then after a day or so. it doesnt even crank up. just all lights, fuel pump working, fuse thingy working. but no crank up. WHAT IS IT !? help .. please. gods. where are you? lol. :sadwave:

damn if it's blank that usally an indication of a bad ecu.

Well I fixed da code 10 it was just disconnected, and now that I reconnected it, no more code 10. My car is running just great. I'm happy... now as for AccordLxi2.0... um yeah the ECU could have gone bad... It could be a possability that it fried... I would 1st call a few junk yards and fine out how much an ECU would cost for your car... make sure u take the ECU out from under the seat because they will need the serial # in order to see if they have the correct one in the junk yard lot.. try that, and if u get an ecu and it still doesn't work, then I dunno what to tell u... so u said everything else is working right? if the car does turn over, try to check you distributer cap, it may be dirty or may need 2 get replaced, also check your ignition coil, that may also be the problem. hope dat helps... good luck n let us know how it turned out. Lataz.
