So, im lighting up my tire today, and I got to thinkin, wondering what exactly this is bad for. I dont do it much, maybe only 4 or 5 times in over a year. So, well im sittin there, burning a patch into the ground, beside all the rubber spraying off, what is this hard on?? I only had the revs at 5K I think, and only for 10 seconds or so. I used the ebrake, to hold me there. Is that hard on anything? Also, if I crank up on the ebrake, really hard, I lay one good solid patch, but if i just kinda pull it up to hold me there, I get 2 wheels turnign, and both laying a fainter rubber. Whats up with that?? All info appreciated, thx

well, . . . . . .your tire's but anything else, nothing, imo.
what i did at my job, after my mod's and buying a set of 205/50r15 tire's from my manager, sunday i was in the back and front parking lot, e-braking over redlining, spinout's when it rained, but once it dried out, i drove all crazy in turn not only i broke in my tire's but i screwed up the pavement , the next day when i opened my manager asked my wtf is up with the pavement, i was like idon't know :lol:
but i gave my co-worker's and my assistant manager a hell of a show . . . .

I think for sure that holding up the ebrake = bad for it. It's forcing it to hold tension which I don't think is really nice on the ebrake cables. As far as other things, I don't think anything will be affected too badly.

well with autoz its said to be hard on the trany but with a stick its fun and easy as hell so why not eh lol.

It's obvious that it causes stress on the engine/tranny/driveshafts, plus it's not too healthy for the engine if you keep burning out because it isn't getting any cooling when you're standing still. Remember to take pauses so you can take it for a spin and cool the engine off.

When I did burning out till the tire burst (4 minutes) on my old Ford Escort (FF) before, I had over heating, cooling water came out from reserver tank + big steam. Very satisfaying. Also using rolling roller (= stand still but engine is runnning at full power) they sometimes use extra fan to keep the engine cool. But if the duration is short, say before water temp goes up, I dont think its so serious -beside the wire of the tyre came out and start scratch the wing and bumper then the bumper trim was caught and fell off in my case!

Burn outs may also cause damage to the transmission. Particularly the differential. Sometimes one of the front tires will loose traction causing the differential to transfer all of the power to that tire (on our cars anyway). As a result, the gears inside the differential are put under a lot of stress. It isn't uncommon for the differential pin to break or come out resulting in serious damage to the tranny after being repeatedly exposed to that kind of stress.

Well, better stop then. Dont want to have to replace tranny, after all the other stuff i've already replaced. Im sick of fixin shit.
