i need to know what kind of performance could one expect from the lx-i motor. i see performance products for it, but are they worth it? what kind of power could one expect from one that has aftermarket ign. (coil,plugs,wires,msd6), full exhaust (header, catback, performance muffler),automatic tranny, mild cam, turbo (if i could find one,i see some people have a setup, but from where?), or maybe 75 shot. Just dont want to put all this time and money in this motor for nothing. I see that a b16a conversion is a possibility if needed. thats why i want some input. I guess final question would be: IS THE A20 WORTH IT????

:dunno:

You could just put a b16a intake manifold on the a20, thats worth it, http://openloopmotorsports.com/Dyno.html, increase to 140 HP

I say turbo is worth it.I beat a ford lightning and a mustang gt 4.6 last night. It is worth it to pull on guys like that.

Why would you say that. They are both low 15 second cars.I pull on my bodys 98 gt all the time. And he can drive.I also pulled on another SRV prelude today.I have seen those take mustangs

well, A20 motor is great, but nothing can beat b series. if you just drop stock B16A into the car, you should run 15 flat or low 14s.
i know it may cost you more, but in the end you will end up with better setup than just turbo A20.
B series are just better when it comes extraction power.

A20 is not worth it. Get that trash out of there.

I would like to see someone even break into high 15's with a stock b16

Raunch said the lowest he ever did with the b16 in the accord was like 15.7 or so... A turbo A20 at 6-7psi is probably in the high 14s... elijah id bet youre runnin 14.7 or so roughly... stang gt's run 14.9 usually, and lightnings are a lil faster than that.

They run them all the time. Civic Si straight from the dealer showroom runs a 15.8

If you're going b series might as well get a B18c or B20a... something with a little more displacement.

Or keep the A20 and upgrade to b series parts like the B18/B16 intake manifold

No one can tell you a motor is worth it or not... there are plenty of motors out there that started off with low HP and very little support but later on they became classics and are heavily modified... just because there is no demand for the A20 doesn't mean you can't put your time into it and do the work yourself and reach your power goals.

usually a B16 manifold is a good manifold to use in a B16 manifold swap

i'm actually doing one right now. othick made one for his car and then sold the one he made to me because he is selling the car. You need a new fuel rail a new TB your nned to modify your TPS and tap some new vaccum lines and some coolant lines. You can't run an egr because the manifold doesn't have one. here is the post about it http://www.3geez.com/showthread.php?t=36308

I also have to ask the same question because I was originally planning to do and engine swap on my LX. Will it be not necessarily better but will it be cheaper to convert my car to manual then convert the car to f/i rather than doing the swap?
