View Full Version : sounds coming from tire wells during corners

the name pretty much explaisn it all but whenever i turn i can hear like a hiss ( not the tire losing air ) and liek a crackle , cv joints , bearings ?

You pretty much covered it. Make sure it is not tire noise such as you get in a hard turn at speed. Other than that, take a look at the brakes. Check the dust shields and calipers for looseness. CV joints would make clicking noises when they go bad. To check the bearings, raise that particular wheel and try to move it in and out on the spindle. Then try to rock it vertically and horizontally. If you can detect movement, the wheel bearings are worn. Also, the hub should rotate smoothly and quietly. If there is any roughness or abnormal noises, the wheel bearings are a prime suspect. Hope this helps.

start with brakes, if they are fine, check the cv joints. (if they click when you turn). after that look into wheel bearing. (it will make like winding noise, sometimes).

Look at the dust shields behind the brake rotors - make sure they aren't bent out too far above the rotor. It is possible they are rubbing the inner side of the rim.
