What exactly is a spindle? All i saw in the repair manual was the spindle nut, but thats it.

The arm that comes out of the (for example) rear drum brakes and connects to the upper ball joint. The rear drum and arm are all one piece, called the spindle.

The hub, with it's hub bearing, is common to a 'spindle', just different design.
