Installed the H&R's...

I just got my H&R springs installed a couple days ago. I am riding with Tokico blues all around, and I love it. Its a little bouncy up front, but the height is perfect, and it handles really well now, it especially eliminates a lot of understeer I find, as well as body roll.

I will get pics later this week as soon as my new headlights are in as well. :rockon: .., and rims are on the way.

I'm going to be getting other rims soon, but I will keep the se-i wheels with my all seasons on them for winter. Winters here suck big time, so I need to have them.

i ordered h&r's and tokico's on wednesday, but they probably won't be here for a month... glad to hear they ride well, i can't wait to get them on!

I'm doing the same thing - already got the H&Rs, and Tokicos should the on their way. Good to know I'm not the only one doing the "poor man's drop." :D

HEy, did you pay to the shop to do the installation or you did it yourself? Cuz I tried to take the spring from the shock in safe way, but I didn't find any Spring compressor to fit the Fucking front springs.....Damn it, I took the rental one in Shucks, it looked like it could work, but didn't...I am pissed right now, cuz I had to drive van.....

I didn't use compressors on my springs...you can do it that way, though you get a little anxious as you get to the top of the threads. Just be careful that if something shoots off, it won't hit anyone/anything important. I almost took out cdscowboy (matt) replacing my blown struts with tokicos...the top of the strut flew off and missed him by a few inches :D

The best way to use a spring compressor is to remove the strut/spring combo as a whole (the lower bolt and the top 3 on the strut) and take it out of the car then use the spring compressor outside of the car. That's how I did it at least.

Great thanks for the info. Post those pics up soon. This is the setup that I've been wanting to get. Been buying too many electronics and the adj cam gear lately so I haven't been able to afford them. But I would say in fort night that I will have boughten H&R's and Tokicos (ones off of ebay)

Ya, I got a deal from these guys who are in the same complex as my work, and they did a really good job too, only thing is, i need some sort of bushings because the front end squeeks a bit.
I had the same problem at school when we tried to change oem springs on another 3g. We used like 3 different spring compressors before we got one to work, it was a pain in the ass, so i decided to let someone else do this one for me....

And ... Eurolite projectors + silverstar bulbs = the shiznit! These things are sooo bright... I had some fun losing pieces to my headlight assembly while putting them in, and had to make a trip to the wreckers, but now that they are in, they make a world of difference, and thats just sitting in my garage, tonight will be sweet.

I will also get some pics tonight, and hopefully post them later, or tommorow at the latest.

Spring compressors made by Ampro will work. They're still a little big for the front spring but they will work and they work fine on the back. I have a set that I bought when I did my suspension. They were 30 bucks if I remember correctly. I can loan them out on an Autozone tool rental type deal if needed.

i also did the poor mans job with h&r springs but instead of tokicos all around i used the blistien hd's up front. i didnt have them revalved cuz it was to expensive and time consuming. used tokico blues in the rear. yes it is slightly bouncy up front but its really not that bad at all. overall i am pleased with the setup, corners much better, less body roll, more control and it doesn't beat you to death when just cruisin around. it also definetly helped out at the track with launching. not to mention the sportier look :cool:

I've had the same set up for over two years(H&Rs w/ Tokico blues) and am very happy w/ them. They can be a little bouncy at normal speeds, but at higher speeds, they smooth out pretty damn well and not too bouncy at all. I love the way they ride, but I also have sway bars, camber kit up front and DC front upper bar.

After having them in for about a month now, i love it most of the time... but i want to get revalved bilsteins by the end of winter, just a bit too bouncy for my liking.

Hash man, did you order revalved bilstiens yet? Just wondering how much it costs you to get them up to canada, cuz I gotta fix my drop soon and I's thinking of going that way.

Nope, havent done that yet... ive decided im at least going to wait till the end of winter, but right now its not a priority, it seems to ride just fine for now... i really want to make civic tein full coilover fit though, or maybe 4th gen accord tein... hmmm... itd be soooo nice.

Anyways... If i find out the price i'll let you know, but im probably not going to order them for a while.

I'm shooting for the revalved Bilstein / GC coilover combo, but I have a question... please don't crucify me... here's my situation.

the car is currently dropped on cut springs, that's the way I bought it. I know that if you die on cut springs they don't let you into heaven, and I know that I can't insure my car until I fix the drop.

so: I will have the gc coilovers and then have to wait a month or more before the revalved bils get here. If I install the coilovers with the stock struts (yes I know it is wrong) and drive it 2 miles to the inspection shop, will anything get wrecked, and does it matter what I set the drop at (will it be better to keep it high as possible)?

I don't think 2 miles will do anything. I mean you *could* blow your stock struts, but you'll be replacing those. Just watch out for the bumps. Bigger drop gives you better handling, but less comfort.

Not necessarily. If you have stock shocks you could be bouncing all over the place, and handling might suck a lot. Dont assume that lowring your car will always make it handle better.

right... i was talking about quality lowering springs or coilovers. Although I know a few guys who would argue all day that their handling improved dramatically with cut springs.

Ok, i like this combo i think, since i am poor and feel that i can afford to do this, my question is, how loose is the front- i dont want to be scraping out all over the place when i drive agressively.
oh, and how big a different is there between the H&R and Neuspeed springs?

Overall i love the way the car handles... but all I can compare it to is stock suspension. The springs are stiff enough for me... only if there was no extra bounce due to weaker tokicos... but that costs $$
