would it hurt my car if I remove the exhaust heat sheild? It makes my exhaust rattle so I just want to take it off. Has anyone done this ?

I took mine off years ago and have never noticed a problem. Just make sure nothing touches like spark plug wires any you should be fine. Oh you have to disconnect the O2 sensor to get it off.

there was a thread on this. if your exhuast is pretty gutted then you wont need a heatsheld over the cat, but if you have the cat then, it gets really hot with out it. someone said something bout not having a heat shield and loosing exhuast velocity.

the thing I don't like is how pathetic it makes the manifold with it off.

I mean the heat shield off that goes over the actual exhaust, i'm just gonna take it off and cut my cat off casue it has a leak in it and just weld in a straight pipe

there are only 2 heatshield i believe, one over the header and one over the cat. i kno the cat one has 2 pieces. when you say "exhaust" it's very vague. the whole system consist of many parts.

One quick tip, ALWAYS leave the cat heat shield on.

well, if you have a test pipe, then you'd have to fabricate it on or weld it.

if there is no cat............that means no need for cat heat shield
