yeah so the damn crank shaft pulley wouldnt budge for shit with the impact gun either....so the bitch gets pulled

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid136/pb6328ca82556925bc169715d87a7548e/f753a443.jpg

finally get it on the ground and take the tranny off and grab hold of the ALUMINUM flywheel :flip: and then crank the bolt off the pulley with my bitch-be-good stick! AS it was mentioned before by somebody the timing was off because the key wasnt put back in by the Honda shop and it had turned itself damn NEAR 171.36 degrees off of TDC (give or take)

then it was on to car number 2. we ran into a few snaggles which were mainly because its a damn automatic the cable is attached inside the transmission.

why God Why mE?!?!?! and in case you are wondering there are now SEVEN 3rd gens in my driveway! lol i should have a bunch of parts left over if anybody wants a lxi swap or something.

and of course while the engine is out. what better time to clean up a bit. some cheap gallon jug of purple power degreaser from walmart and a little sponge seemed to to great. the entire inside of the bay was literally black.

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid136/p915232156ff5ef3d39b125d0068cf7b7/f7538965.jpg

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid136/pa4cb38f47bdec6b2e3caa680bbc55eed/f753895f.jpg
and the motor from this one will replace this one...

Damn Right we are. Just wait till she is running though cause I might be hitting you up for the 'sweetness' Mr. Nitrous Express.

If i blow that one, I got 5 more to go AHAHAHAHAHA

well I think what has been happening is because the key in the pulley was missing it has been slowly working itself off. which may also explain my times getting slower at the track. but I think a lot of it was because the aluminum flywheel spins much faster, when it bounces off the Rev Limiter, it would skip and jump past the limiter and go back and forth. when the RPMS are that high it revs like a street bike.

You plan on doing a re-build with the pistons, rod and crank journals, etc., or you just doing a motor switch? Looking good, nice supply of parts too.

my lord.... 7 geezers in a driveway. what's next?

MarioBurke
09-06-2004, 10:38 PM
yes 7. i am actually trying to get the junk yard to come get 3 of them.

as of right now I am so close to finishing putting the engine back in The Gun Metal accord, yet so far. the damn thermostat housing shattered, and then the one of the bolts snapped off in the other one. so I need a LXi thermostat housing now. other than that, I think i got everything pretty much back together and its ready to be dropped in. but i need a second pair of eyes to double check for me.

I put in a new oil pan gasket and a head gasket. Scrubbed everything over a couple times with a couple different degreasers. put the manifold on the head. put the head on the block and made sure it was torqued to the right lb. put the flywheel on and made sure it was it torqued down. pressure plate clutch. all coolant lines on the intake manifold. new motor mounts. made sure the crank and cam pulleys were at TDC and the keys were IN! all belts are tight (new timing belt, altenator, and power steering). oil filter is on. ....remind me if im forgetting something.

so now im just stuck until i get the thermostat housing replaced. i have pictures but now im just too mad to loadem!!

this is with the valve cover, oil pan, intake manifold and tranmission back on. right that was the altanator, PS pump, and water pump pulleys.

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid138/p35cfd97f431f90720c9d3fb81665c678/f71941b3.jpg

and finally with a little help from good ole mom, there she sits.......and thats it. shes sitting there. no bolts, no hoses, to axles. why? because im flippin tired

wow mario, your crank looks awful and ur piston tops look worse than the motor i got from steve and his ran rich like bill gates. Ever tried fuel additives bro? also get motor flush and use it before an oilchange. Helps all the deposits and reduces engine noice via better lubrication.

wow Smuf, your ugly and your mom dresses you funny. if you have been paying attention, and from other run-ins Im sure your not, I pulled this motor out of a Different car that was not regulary maintained. I HOWEVER, try to use only Chevron (w/techron) fuel and use some kind of motor flush before changing the oil. you kind of have to when using the full syntec.

the motor that came out of my car, unfortunately, had finally reached 295,000 and after replacing the tranny and shift linkage and night of 14 runs, or so, at the drags she became weary. (16.8 on a perfect reaction time)

the motor that i cleaned up,as i said before, was not regularly maintained. The car it came from had been sitting for the last 3 years, and when i put some fresh gas in and got it started it sputtered for a bit as any car sitting for that long would have, but settled down to a smooth idle. mashed the pedal to the floor (automatic) chirpped the tires and took it to 110mph on the way home. it didnt miss a beat. i figured not bad for $250. although it still has 150,000 its still younger than 295,000.

got something to say use PM. Helps bandwidth and prevents desease I.E. Foot-In-Mouth
