Hey, anybody know what a code 1 is?

(this is on my 91 lude, after i did the B20A swap)

it blinks on as long as it's off.

okay, quick update: i just found out that code 1 means "oxygen content"

does this mean there's a bad ground somewhere or does that mean that i need a new o2 sensor?

I think you need to switch to a certain type of O2 Sensor, and do some (re)wiring... Carotman had that problem I think.

ok... i guess i'll look into that

if ur running a B20A5 ECU then of course ur gonna throw a primary or a sendary O2 code cause the JDM B20A uses only one O2 sensor while the A20A3 and the B20A5 motors use two O2 sensors. Try to swap a 86-87 EFI accord ecu and see if it plugs in and works. I doubt if they will plug up tho.

Our JDM B20A from the Accord doesnt fit in his prelude so that's not likely.

possibly.

Yo, how many O2 sensors u got on the new motor?

well, it came with 2 that were both located on the header. but i switched both manifolds to the USDM ones so I would pass emissions (EGR crap). So I'm still only using the one O2 sensor that's located just before the flexpipe. (lude's have the 4-2-1 design)

wait, u got the 3rd gen lude and not the B20A5 engine?cause that motor had 2 O2 sensors on the manifold.

THe only solution i can think of is to get an aftermarket header for it and use it to use your O2 sensor, if not drilling and threading a hole for the Sensor or worse, just branch off the single O2 Sensor to run to two O2 Sensor clips. :sad2:

actually, everything is just fine. lemme explain:

i got the JDM B20A that came with the 3rd gen prelude in japan (obviously!). it's definately not a B20A5. That's the USDM 2.0Si model engine. Also, this B20A is not the same B20A that came in the 2nd gen ludes & 3rd gen accord. it's weird that honda called both motors the same thing, even though they are very different.

ANYWAY, the B20A that I got came with it's own header and downpipe. the header had 2 O2 sensors in it. this all does not matter because I am still using the USDM header and downpipe for 3 reasons:
1. The ECU would throw a code if it could not detect the EGR.
2. I want to actually pass emissions.
3. I have no idea how to hook 2 O2 sensors up to the one plug on the wiring harness, much less make them reach.

*gasp* wow, that was long winded. anyway, hope that clears things up for everyone. :)

racerx, i understood whatever u said in the very first post u made. BUt you dont understand what i am trying to ask you. so lemme ask u again.

What motor came outta ur prelude before the B20A went in? cause u keep saying the USDM header, but u dont seem to mention which motor the USDM header was bolted to? cause if u wanna backtrack a problem, u need to start with the base and thats what i was talking about. get it? :)

oh, sorry.
It originally came with the B21A1. (i guess i forgot to mention it's an Si...oops!) :)

ummm... ya. the B21 went back to the single O2. honda has to change somthing every 2 years.

it would most likely need an O2. if one of the others will plug in, swap them out. if you determine that it really is the O2, then you really should get a honda one. as long as it isnt bosch anyway. those things should not be in honda's

i got bosch O2 sensor Night. and i still passed the strict NJ emissions. and i got about 25,000 miles on it and it dod not go bad.

ok, but how much is a Honda O2?
i just asked them how much it would be for new shift cables, and they said $383.99!!!!
i went to the junkyard and picked 'em up for $10.64.

the bosch will suffice, but they arent recommended or ideal.
they do not switch as fast as a honda and the therfore do not maintain as accurate an a/f ratio
