The oil control jet, what does it do, and what would happen if it was left out???

It limits the flow of pressurized oil into the cylinder head. Leaving it out will likely lower your oil pressure and will put extra oil into the head and may increase the chance of an oil leak through the head gasket.

Were replacing the head gasket and forgot to put it back in? If it was my car I would make sure the oil control jet was installed, even if I had to start over--I've seen too many engines destroyed due to poor lubrication.

My brother "rebuilt this motor" and I am trying to correct all his mistakes, including not torqueing the head correctly which means a new head gasket. When he was working on it before I don't remember seeing it there. I am going over the shop manual break downs and saw it in the break down. Since I am pulling the head I am going to check for it but if its not there I wondered what would happen if had been left out.
