Wasn't really feeling my short ram eventhough I put it in around two weeks ago so I decided to try to make a CAI.

I used a 90-93 integra CAI. Whoever said you don't need to make any cuts to it for it to fit (I aint gonna say your name, but you know who you are), that wasn't true. Cuts were definitely needed.

Anyway I think it came out ok. Did what I could...

Comments are welcomed. I want to add a bypass, I'll have to look that up now...

Lastly I noticed that A LOT of the How To's for making a CAI are either inaccurate, don't have enough info, or require battery relocation / multiple parts from different places like the one in the how to section. Therefore I made directions for making the intake I used.

This may not be the best setup, but it works, doesn't cost a lot and it requires no battery relocation so I'm happy with it. Information and pictures can be found on my Car Domain site on page 8.

i have a civic CAI coming in tomorrow. i know ill have to do a little cutting but i was wondering, on yours you didnt have to move your battery any at all? and also how much cutting did you have to do? i shouldn't have any problems cause i have all the right tools and i know what im doing, jw how easy it was for you to set it all up. nice work!

Good work! I had a hard time putting on the pipe near the bumper hole. you cut a fair amount of the pipe that goes into the bumper. The other piece pratically curves and point towards the dizzy so had to hack off almost a whole curve.

All you need is a vise grip and a hacksaw and probably a 10mm to move the battery while doing it. I did it with my battery in there just had to loosen it off the tie bars in order to fit the pipe in that little hole first. My battery fits fine.

Hey, did you feel a gain in power compared to your short ram kit?

Yea I could feel a difference compared to the shortram. Definitely feels more powerful.

To busted blue yours looks good. I don't know what brand you used but cutting from the bottom of mine was needed. If not it probably would've touched the floor. Came close at least

To the person with the first question battery relocation isn't needed. If you need further info check my cardomain site. I have a lot more info listed there. I can't really say what you'll have to do for the civic CAI. they come from different cars so I'm sure it'll be different. My shortram was from a civic and the shape was completely different. I believe they run more straight so it would run directly into the battery.

well, the intake wasn't made for 3G, so you should expect some cutting no matter what. it looks good. i hope you bought real K&N filter and did not use that cheap ass paper filter they sent you.

i thought that teg intake fits a lot better for some unknown reason. thank god i didn't go with it.

I like you set up, but you didn't list the CAI kit that you used.
Thanks

Busted Blue's piping has two near 90 degree bends on top of the two 90 degree bends reaquired to get the pipe down the bumper and face forward. That cant be very helpfull to the airflow? the '90-'93 teg one looks straight and airflow-friendly.

For right now I have the filter that came with it. When I got done installing it and everything it was already around 7:30PM. Most places here close at 8 or earlier. I'm gonna pick one up definitely though. Was going to for my SR, but didn't see a K&N in any of the stores I checked (pep boys, autozone, Struass...), they had K&N filters but all I saw was for original setups. Couldn't find cone filters. NAPA may have i'll check there...

the one I used is a 90-93...but some generic pipe that my friend had on his integra before so I don't know. I wouldn't go as far to say it slows down air flow dramatically, because the bends are almost nearly identical in the in the picture give or take a few degrees.

I got a K & N 2.5 inch Cone filter with a longneck. I bought it at a local tuner shop here in the city for roughly 30bucks. I believe its the same as the AEM 2.5inch Long neck.

Finally someone with a decent sized filter... I've seen so many small filters out there, seems sad people spending money on cold air intakes then choking the intake with a small filter.

I almost picked up one of those smaller filters. It was the one that has the big plastic cover around it that supposedly helps block the heat (was gonna get it when I still had my short ram in), but I noticed that under all of that plastic the actual filter was about the size of a breather filter.

I don't wanna start another topic but does anybody know where to get a k&N filter online or in nyc? I need the model #.

I saw a couple on the k&n site but can't find the one that I see most people with up here. I didn't know the model # and they didn't have a pic of every item. Same with nopi.com. They just have general picture, not model specific.

I can't find them for anything in nyc. I checked autozone, pep boys, struass, a few other stores, etc... they have k&n filters but not the intake kind we need.

thanks a lot

I saw a few cone filters at autozone but they were way too big and the opening was about 4-5 inches at least. I checked multiple autozones and all the other stores I listed. cheapest was about $48

you can get the k&n filter you want at autozone, you just need to know the part number. that's how i got mine. i looked up the list of part numbers that k&n had on their site, and picked the one i wanted.

I just want to add this information for anyone who may need It.

Busted_Blue pointed an AEM Filter model % "AEM 21-101" out to me and from that I was able to find a site that sells them for $36.72 ($38.66 but you get a 5% discound on all items you purchase if you sign up for their free email newsletter). I also picked up an AEM bypass filter from them.

Link to filters are here: http://store.yahoo.com/streetbeatcustoms/perup-aem-aem-air-filter.html
Link to bypass filters are here: http://store.yahoo.com/streetbeatcustoms/perup-aem-aem-air-by-pass-valve.html

Direct link to store is http://store.yahoo.com/streetbeatcustoms/ or http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/ (both go same place)

With their filter / bypass filter / and 5% coupon I found them to be the best deal. Even with 3 day shipping it came out to be cheaper than the cheapest I found on ebay.

Note: AEM 21-101 is for 2.5 inch piping, I actually ordered AEM 21-102 as my piping is 2.75 inches

I forgot to list that site

I looked there before and was about to order from them. Two things stopped me.
1) the item they have pictured does not look like the right item. They have a long filter pictured, it's supposed to be a long neck but regular size filter (maybe they'll send the right item, I don't want to waste time if they don't)
2) I'm in NY so free ground shipping isn't that much of a deal. Free is free but normally ground takes too long for me (7 days). I was looking for the best deal with 3 day or 2 day.

Cardomain: filter + bypass $83.90 with free shipping
$102.85 with 3 day shipping

Streetbeat filter + bypass 87.04 with paid ground shipping
$95.16 with 3 day shipping

If I was going for ground shipping car domain comes out cheaper (jus make sure it's the right filter). If you're going for 3 day streetbeat is cheaper. Depends on your location/ how fast you want item.
