Ok guys whats your time on removing a Tranny?

I brought my car to the shop and he said it would take about 5-6 hours depending on how lock tight the blots are and if they come out or not? I have a feeling i'm gettin screwd over?

most mechanic shops go by the book on how long it will take. Removing the tranny doesnt usually take much time.

what are they doing that requires removeal of the tranny???

Well i had it flushed back in the fall......and the dumbasses some how never did the fluid, cause it was bone dry......and theres no leak either? how can 4 qrts disapear within a year? so i bought a used one from RobT5580. BUT the shop told me i need to get the original torque converter for that used tranny, he said he woudln't put the old one in cause there might be metal in it, He didn't believe me that anyone could remove the tranny under 5 hours.....cant it be removed in like 3 or something......

Alex (shepherd79) and I removed Jim's (HostileJava) tranny in about 2 hours and I pulled it, basically myself, again in 3.

i only took about 6 hours pulling my tranny out of my parts car, and i had to rip the motor apart in the process...

the second time (tranny out of my good car) took about 4 hours, but i had some problems with my tools...

Once you get it down you can pull the engine/motor in an hour. I have.

Yeah your getting the shaft on this one its not that hard at all you just need to know what your doing. I did my first tranny back when i was 18 in far less than that. I can pull the entire motor in an hour and a half and thats taking my time and working under poor conditions. Granted iv pulled a handfull of accord engines but shops are usually out to make a few bucks and will take advantage of people whenever possible. I will work on getting that torque converter off tomorrow and get that out to you.

Well, it took me 7 hours to change the clusth and pressure plate un a H22A 4th gen Accord. If you just want to pull out the transmission, I guess that 2.5 hours is OK.

i did the lxi's aluminum flywheel and race clutch on jack stands in 4.5 hours... it was being a pain in the ass... i should have had it done earlier.

I replaced mine, I pulled it in about 2-3 hours. And I had never done a tranny on a honda before.
