Hi i just purchased some street edge speakers, anyone heard of them? Maybe there a new company, but they sound incredible! very bright, and can go reallly high without distortion, but they have NO bass, i can barely hear my 8" Orion Sub. i picked em up from some audio store for $130, i was actually looking into 6 1/2" sony Xplodes but pep boys was out so i went to another place and picked these up, these were the cheapest speakers they had. i was wondering if they have a reputable name... or if you've heard of them... any opinions?...

oh yeah!... and they also came with some nice grills!

ok im reading this off the side of the box. it says:
Impedance = 4 ohms
Resonant (natural) Frequency = 80Hz
Frequency Response = 80Hz - 20kHz
Maximum Power Input = 60 Watts
Continuous Power Input = 30 Watts
Sensitivity = 88dB
Mounting Depth = 2"

On the back of the speaker it says 60 Watts

yeah, i think you got jacked... i only payed $3 for my boston acoustics speakers... almost perfect shape... not too power happy, but they seem to not need a lot... man, i think you need to go junkyard diving for speakers...

well they sound fine now. i have played them really high lately alot, and they havent blown yet. i dont think 130$ speakers would blow that easily or at all.

I'd be more worried about the sensitivity. to get the same volume out of an 88db sensitivity you need 2x the power of a 91db sensitivity. Thats why all concert style speakers have like 105+db sensitivity, becuase you'd need major power to get that loud with low 90's.

so do i need to run them off an amp or off a better powered headunit ? im getting a new amp for my subwoofer and ill use the old amp (2 channel, i think) and use it for the speakers, if thats possible? my current headunit is 40x2 (or x4, dunno..?) . and i can get a new one sometime with 60x watts will that make it better or will runing them off an amp be better , but i dunno if its possible to run off a 2 channel or not, i dont know much about this shit.
