man, you need a new tach... my vast [haha] knowledge of this stuff says to get a tach that will fit closely into the stock position and cut the old one out and put the new one in, making for a nice clean install (you know, like the rest of the car)...

by the way, great stuff there... i'd like to make an a20 rev like that...

I was in 2nd and got 90 mph @ 7.5k but I'm out of my powerband for a long time...
I noticed you were dropping 5.5k - 6.0k after the shifts.

B16 > A20 :) Little wake up call to all the B16 haters, eh? The car moves. I kept up with a GS-R teg the other week and have spanked my fair share of LS's. Still not confident enough to mess with V8's and turbos but maybe one day.

U started out in 2nd gear right? from what i can see from 6k to 8k u moved from 40mph ro 50mph. I think its because of the gear ratios on ur tranny cause we can pull 60mph at 6k in 2nd gear. and in third u go from 5.5K to 7.5K doing 55mph to 70mph in third. I can clearly see the car pull at higher rpms, but u gotta admit its not THAT fast from a A20 with a I/H/E. ALso, you should try to go from a roll at 40mph in second gear and try to keep up with a stock turbo cars and see how it accelerates.

Also get a video of ur car revving from idle all the way to ur redline and also get a video of u launching the car. I wanna see how freely the motor spins.

Its the civic SI motor right? i had one at work, and it was decent

You definately need to get some 1/4 mile times so you can prove its better... i'm thinking it most definately is, but it would just help to prove your case, plus im really curious to see what it runs. I personally want a b18c5 in my accord, but that engine is super expensive, and depending on what the b16 runs i may consider it.

Also, what does a civic with a b16 weigh compared to an accord? i've been wondering about that cuz lots say its similar.

EDIT - I'm gonna change what I said. The point of this vid wasn't to show how fast the car is or anything like that. I wanted to show the tach being buried, something you don't see much in a 3g Accord. It's funny to always hear about no torque. Last I checked, it's more torque than my carb motor had and it's 11 lb-ft. less than the 88-89 A20. Give me a break. What good is a 1-2 car lead off the line when you get passed 2-4 seconds later? The car feels stronger under 5K than with an A20. Like I said before, if someone wants to setup a race between me and an A20, set it up.

steve, i'm boosting my compression, goin probably DCOE or DCOE TBI, custom headers, tuned exhaust, camshaft (to my specs, not anybody else's) from openloop, a fully built bottom end, and a regeared transmission... now, if i wanted to match you on revs, i'd pull a crankshaft from an A16 and destroke my a20...

i'm not gonna predict who would win, but i'd like to race, just for the hell of it...

about the same. it's somewhere in the faq..., just to lazy to look it up right now. and when i'm done building my engine i'll be able to go to 8k too. but i think i'll prolly still keep the powerband between 3-4k up to 6-7k. i just want it balanced up to 8k so i can cruise at 6k :D

8000 is nice, but my 8400 Civic is BETTER. If I double clutch it, I can go 9000 between shifts. I'll have to say, maybe I can rev higher, but your engine is definetely better...

BTW, 8000 in a stock A20A1 is possible, as I'd said many times, my maximum in my old 89 DX sedan was about 8300. Stock, not making power after 56-5800, but still "got r dun"

Just for the record, he shifted at around 7800 rpms not 8k :D I was watching the video, hit play - started to rev ....... Went down stairs, gave the car a tune up, washed it, took it for a spin, came back home and it was still at 6900 rpms ..... :sad2: lol
