well, are you going to run actual two pipes from the engine?

yeah what size motor... also when going dual instead of single you decrease the diameter to keep up velocity, you may end up running dual 1.75"-2" pipes, instead of a single 2.25" pipe

However, I've always felt velocity is more important in the header and that with a 0.50"-1.00" bump in pipe diameter right after the collector will give a nice backflow dam. So you can run a single 2.25" back, then get the "Y" split somewhere by the rear wheel.

just save yourself the time and hassle and y the pipe at the back. Put a good california turbo or some other good baffle muffler before the Y and you should be good.

"this thing kinda like a cherybomb" are you talking about a pre-scliencer ?

Thanks guys. I had mine done professionally at a exhaust shop. All new piping 2.25inch. Still looks brand new. Its about a year old now

i would just increase the pip size like a 2.5 or 3" piping but is 3" too big and will lose performance on our cars? i read that somewhere on here. Cause 4cylinder engines arnt really meant for dual exhaust

i think 2.5 should be the bigest for a NA set up. 3 inch is for like turbo...i have 2.25 inch and it does the rice rocket sound when its cold. but after its warm you cant even hear it.

I wanna say as long as you design the header right, you can open up the exhaust beyond the usual 2"-2.25"

Take open headers, they are tuned so that the exhaust pulse reaches the end of the collector at the right time and the expansion wave is much stronger because the collector is open to the atmosphere. The strong expansion wave creates a strong suction wave that travels back up the pipe towards the valves, this is the returning pulse, if it reaches the open valve at the right time will help scavenge out exhaust gases.

If you run exhaust with a tuned header but increase pipe diameter sharply right after the collector you still get an expansion wave but it's not as strong as one you'd get on an open header, but it is a broader wave, which is good because it covers a wider RPM range.

You also see smaller gradual steps in header tubes but never big ones, as larger steps can cause drag or separated flow.
