The stock horns sound sort of weak. Has anyone had any experience switching it out with something with more volume? The more it sounds like an air horn the better. With so many giant SUVs on the road a louder horn seemed like a good idea to me. The way some people around here drive it's like they can't even see me. I figure it would be nice if at least they could hear me.

I remember that someone else got Porsche horns, but those are hard to come by. So what's the loudest horn you know about? New, used, I don't care.

I had air horns in my last car. The real problem is without a pressure storage tank there is at least a second delay before the horns actually sound. Plus, unless you can fit in a large trumpet it ends up sounding pretty wussy and high pitched.

If you think our horns are wimpy (at least they ARE dual horns), you should have heard the horn (single) in our 93 Escort!

I've been considering a Ford horn. All Fords seem to have the same horn and it's pretty damn loud. A pair of those would probably do nicely.

Fiamm air horns are my recommendation.

I remember reading about those Porsche horns. Did you find them in a scrap yard? Where are the horns in a Porsche? I tried looking some and didn't spot them under the hood. I guess I'm just too used to where everythin is on my 3gee.

I'm trying to keep it simple and find a good, loud pair of 12 V horns that I can bolt in the same way POS carb did.

you have to get them from underneath, they're bolted to the bumper

Your horns are behind your bumper cover. To get good access you need to remove your front bumper. If your bumper has the access covers in the lower corners you might be able to work through those, but it would be a lot easier with the whole bumper off. Remove the front signal lights, disconnect wiring to lights, and then remove the two bolts on each side and it pulls off. Then you'll see 2 black 3" disks, one in each corner. That's them.
