I dont know why but I can finally get in to appearance section if ya couldn't tell. Anyway anyone see the latest Sport Compact Car mag, flat black terror. I love it so I decided to krylon my baby, since the paint sucks anyway. I've painted the hood, lights, and just finished the fenders at 11:00 pm. The wife gonna let me buy a kit for it so the front bumper is going to stay goldish or what ever the hell color the car is till I get one. When I finish I will try to get some pics.

yeah I wouldn't have done it if the paint looked good. the hood, roof, and trunk were peeling and faded so I thought what the hell. it didnt cost to much plus I can fix a couple of dings and 2 little rust spots.

thats cool...make sure to get us some pics when your finished! i respect the fact that you would take such a crazy risk like that! lol, i was scared to paint the bumpers and moldings with that paint!

but..the thing is..why would waste a perfectly good paintjob..especially a BRAND NEW ONE like that.

I understand it looks meaner but I certainly would've just left it OEM at least for couple years. lol

edit: i'm talking about the STi... i have no worries against older cars where the quality oem paint was enjoyed for a few good years.

I saw a old mag with a flat black 240, but that was years ago... they showed you how it was painted and everything. not sure if it was SCC

Mine wasn't krylon, it was some chepo brand, and it faded some...

I want to use rustoleum next time if I don't paint it with my coach black.

Can't wait to see your pics.

well it is a project car for a reason, and just to say that you flat black a brand new car just to do it, is reason enough. :D

Wow, that really does look awsome. While the SE-i will be staying it's beautiful charcoal color, the beater, which has far less then perfect paint and body, might be going flat black. What type of paint and prep work did u do to get that finish?

Shaved it, (mouldings, antenna, and "Accord", "LX" emblems) fixed the dents and rust, and then primed it, then painted satin black with a LOT of satinizer (that makes it flat), then put wheels on it, sanded down the cleaned engine bay and spraycanned it flat black under the hood. Never really got around to doing the doorjambs or trunk area. If anybody local to my area or is willing to drive over, the kid I sold the car to is selling her. He cant drive a stick :rofl:LMFAO:rofl: , but he did the deal anyway. He did manage to break the tranny housing somefuckinghow, but he has since put a new tranny and axles in, and simply doesnt drive the damn thing. He's selling for 1500, and I'd buy it if I had the cash....but it sucks that my baby sits in a yard, and gets abused, I know she misses the road..... :sad2:

I have a friend who did that to his 1980 Corolla in 1986. I helped him do it, as a matter of fact. The metal was hot as hell in the summer. He also seemed to attract the attention of the police a lot more - go figure.
