has ever swapped an 89 AT out with a 86 LXi MT fuel inj? found a beater for $500 and was seeing if there were any ups or downs or is it a clean swap? i know the ECUs need to be swaped and the clutch setup. but is it hard to put the pedal setup from a AT into a MT?

I'm guessing the 89 is a carb? You need to swap everything involved with the 86 including the entire wireharness, sensors, etc. The 5-speed swap is pretty straight forward.

im hoping it is fuel injected but im still waiting on the email back to confirm. if it is carb im not going jack with the converstion. are there any diff in the wireing harnesses betweet a 86-87 and 88-89 fuel injection models? like besides the intakes being different, are the ECUs the same and wireing harnesses? supposing they are both fuel injected and 5 speeds.

**UPDATE it is a carb so im going to dump that idea.

well yea its a carb.. but dont swap your 89 carb'd to 86 fuel injected. if you do manage to do anyswaping between the 2 motors. it wouldnt be the 86motor into your car. it would be the fuel injection into your 89. . just my peso's

that was the plan. take the 86 F.I. and put it into the 89 carb.

even if the 89 were FI, the 86/87 uses a different manifolds, and a largely different wiring harness... the existing 89 harness can be made to work, but you're gonna end upmoving some plugs and such...

yeah, im going to do a little more looking for an EFI but 300 bucks for a nice body sounds nice. but whats the diff in an 86-87 and 88-89 block? i mean i know the intakes are diff but the short blocks are the same right? im going to use my head and intake from my 86 cuz i just spent $1500 (well not just spent, i paid for it over 5 months ago but im not going to get into that right now, lol) bucks on a full head and intake job pluse a colt cam :D so anyone in the austin area gotta 86-87 EFI with a good body, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
