I tore the engine down to the block and replaced all the gaskets, seals, belts, new oil and water pump and a head that was redone at midwest engine supply. I also put in a Gude cam and ajustable cam gear. I it started right up and everything sealed up really good! We timed it and made a few adjustments took it out for a ride and it ran great after I had a little over 100 miles on it I took it up to 5k and their wasn't that extra kick what my roomate calls "pre-tec" He has v-tec and thinks it's funny... Anyway I think it's the secondary throttlebody???? I checked everything over again thinking I didn't hook something up but everything seemed to be right...
Anyone know what I did wrong??? :dunno:
And how I can fix it?

And i did do the search and remember seeing a thread on it but I can't seem to find it...

the "pre-tec" is butterflies in the intake manifold that opens up a shorter set of runners. it's controlled by vacuum.., so make sure you have the vacuum line hooked up correctly. someone could prolly clarify since i haven't actually touched the line yet. oh, this is assuming you have the stock 88-89 LX-i intake manifold.

You could have a bad selonid, and they are suppose to be fully open at 4500. They open slowly, so I don't think you should notice a big difference.

I did notice a big differance when it kicked in before I put in the new cam. Exactly where is the solenoid located at? It is a little doggier than before is it possible these runners could be stuck open if the solenoid is bad?

hook it up to direct vacuum and see how it runs...

I thought there was a break-in period when you rebuild an engine where you're not supposed to run it over a certain RPM so that your rings seal properly... :dunno:

i think a20a is right, i was told to keep the car under 2500 for the first little while to make sure the everything gets proper lubrications, and to make sure everything is seated correctly...

they don't open gradually, it's just a quick open/close. and they open at 5,000rpms.

i think you're talking to Volitech, right?
but it just so happens i had my head rebuilt, p&p'd, intaked polished and matched to the head, and tb bored out. i had it done at openloop motorsports and that stuff cost something like $1200 altogether.
