Does anybody know how to get rid of Octane Ping? Every now and then when I shift it pings a bit. What can I do to help this out? Ive been told higher octane gas, retarding timing, or gas drier would help. Well, any more suggestions?

In the Chilton Manual it say a light ping underload is normal for maximum gas mileage. I ran 92 Octane(Cheveron-Always clear quality gas) in mine still had a slight ping under load occasionally. According to Chilton its normal. Our cars are recommended to run 91 octane which is not available everywhere. At 30 miles per gallon $1 extra a tank is not much to give you car what it needs.

Hope this helps,

you can go with a higher octane fuel or you can modify your ignition system so it will give you a better spark this way it will burn most of the fuel.
