The ball joint snapped on the rear control arm...how can I get that ball out to replace the unit. It's so rusted out that I can't tell if there's a pin there but it does not look like it. How does the original ball/joint fit in there, is it just tappered in? What's the easiest way of getting that thing out. Any suggestions would help...thanks!!!

the easist way is buying the arm.
it cost between 50-80 in chicago, it may run cheaper for you.
or you could go to the junk yard too . . . . .

I just got the ball joint out on the side that broke off now I'm trying to do the other side. I figure if the passenger side went out...the driver side will come sooner or later. It just sucks becuase I realize the nut is all stripped and I had to drill it out to get that ball out. I'm trying to do the other side now...maybe I'll even do the front if I have time...
Thanks for the e-bay sight...maybe I'll just get it now... :stupid:

Looks like a steal on a new rear upper control arm.

Well I finally got them both out...did the driver side one too (just in case). Anyway, it was a bitch to take out...those nuts were just so rusted...used a lot of PB Blaster...I think I'm going to get the control arm on Ebay that keruhas184 sent out...what do you think about them? Pretty reliable?

If I didn't already replace mine, I'd buy it up. Looks like a good deal.

Mine broke a couple of years ago and it cost me $18 each for the control arm with ball joint. I did both sides at the same time. I bought mine at Advance Auto parts

wow 18 dollars, thats pretty cheap.
Given the cost, I might just replace mine pro-actively.

It would be a good idea because if it breaks while you are driving it could cause a bad accident. When mine broke on the drivers side I was traveling at 70 mph. The tow bill was 85 dollars alone. When I looked at the ball joint, I could see the seal was broken and the ball was rusted. The other side was in good condition but I replaced it anyways. It was very easy.
