well, most people will be amazed that they were old. i guess boss subs arent known for being the best. anyway, i blew one out on friday and then yesterday there went the other one. considering ive had them for almost 5 years they were ok. before they were in my car they were originally hooked up to my old home stereo which had way too much power for em. theyve almost been blow many times before. guess they finally had it. lol. this isnt such a bad thing. my friends shop is haveing a sale of sorts and has some nice subs on sale. about $ 130 for some new fosgate 12's. me and my friend are going halfs on this. so we'll have 1 12 each. and i'm gettin a band pass box for $55. they assured me that this sub can handle my amp. they should have a warrenty on it, if not i might not get the sub from them. anyway, i hope to get it by friday. i have my half of the money, but my friend keeps up not haveing enough.

i am selling my alpine sub in sealed box right now on ebay

it was hooked up to 200 watt alpine amp, and the sub sounded great.
it can handle more power for sure.

i decided to go over there and check out some other options. they told me about some other subs they had, but most of em were a lot more. i ended up getting a crossfire sub. that was $90 and the single band pass box was $55. i decided to have them put the sub in the box. that wasnt extra so thats good. it came out to $150 flat with a tax discount. it was definately worth the money. i dont have it bridged on the amp, but it already sound really good. that an extra 45lbs, which im not too happy with, but ya know you cant have real deep bump with a flimsy small box. its in there so i can take it out quickly if i need to. i still have room in my trunk too. i have it sitting where the trunk latch is and held in place with a bungee cord. that might sound ghetto, but it really functional. im not really tryin to make the trunk all nice or anything. i'll try and get a pic or two of the new bumpage. i kinda wanna see if it'll handle being bridged since i have a 6 month warrenty. i dunno.

ok, well i guess blowing the subs wasnt such a bad thing. just this one 12 in a band pass sounds much better than the 2 12's. its pretty much a "night and day" difference! that 45lbs doesnt make much difference i guess, doesnt feel slower. i'm still afraid to bridge it, but that 6 month warrenty is calling for a bridging. lol. here's some pix i took of the new bump in the trunk. its sounds really good in the car, enough to impress anyone thats heard it. luckly my trunk doesnt rattle too much. with the windows up you can hear it but not too bad like some cars.

ok, old thread, but i didnt feel like wasting more space on a new one. anyway, that crossfire CF3 has been great, but i saw an infinity 1230W on sale at circuit city and couldnt pass it up. it was for $59.99, came out to right at $90 and some change with a warranty and tax. i put it in my band pass box, sounds good. seems to have a cleaner sound, slightly deeper punch. it could use a more powerful amp i think. its 300 watts rms, 1200 watts peak. anyway, here's what i got. i've already got people wanting to buy my old sub. i think i'll ask for like $40-$55. i wanted to see what this pawn shop i've gone to would give me. they said they'd give me $40 for my old ass kenwood head unit that was kinda crappy. it didnt play burned cds.

Haahahha nice! get rid of that old HU and get one that plays mp3 discs and you'll be set. you can fit ~20 regular cds onto one disc in mp3 format and then you hardly ever need to take the disc out. I love it with mine.
anyways, $50 sounds fair for the sub. and yeah, that sub needs some more push from the amp...
Good call on the thread update vs. a whole new, disconnected thread

oh, i got rid of that deck a long time ago. i've got a kenwood KDC-MP425 now. i already have some MP3 format cds. just need to go buy some more disks that can be made that way.
