I only have 43k on my 3rd gen. But it sometimes has weird shifting patterns and will shift like two gears at a time it's really really weird. It has started this past week. Any ideas guys? :sadwave: .

Is it a 5-speed or auto?

Auto.

Well the sure sign of it slipping is if it hesitates to go into a gear and the engine revs high, so it would be like you rode the clutch before going into the next gear. Your tranny shouldn't be doing that if it has that low of mileage. If it is happening, a tranny flush and new fluid might help.

Good luck.

Cause when I leave it in D4 it revs up really high and doesn't even catch until like 5k sometimes, and other times it's just fine. That usually happens when it's cold.

So to get anywhere I have to put it in D2 and then go into D3 so it will actually move.

Is it bad to shift an auto from D2-D3-D4?

I would say you have some slipping, when mine started slipping I just drained all the fluid out and refilled with new fluid, but it could be different in your case, as for the d2-d3-d4, as far as I know it isn't bad, infact that is how I drive my car 24-7. When I start out I start in D2 and when I come to starts I just down shift it to slow me down a little more and be in a lower gear when I start again.

drop the current fluid and add 75% tranny fluid to 25% lucas tranny additive

well once it warmed up today it was fine so I dunno. Maybe it's in my head. I drive my car like a manual even though it's an auto so I dunno.

Thanks.

i kinda hate the 88' tranny.

when i floor it it does'nt downshift to 2 gears like my 86 did.

but what i do like is when i'm going 35mph in 4th @ 1,500rpms, shiiiiit baby be cruising . . .

bryan you should have a shop check the pressures on the tranny... there are a few bolts on there that come off for a gauge to be hooked up. Have them make sure they are all in spec... also a fluid change can't hurt

accordlxi2.0 try adjusting the TV cable. Loosen the lower 12mm nut to be able to remove it from its bracket and then spin the top nut clockwise about 3 or 4 turns, put it back in its grove and tighten the lower one. The more you tighten the more the tranny will want to downshift (up to a point where it becomes rediculously sensitive)
