I truely and honestly can say now I officially hate idiot drivers. This is the saddest day of my entire life. The first damage to the car in IT'S LIFETIME!!! I feel so shitty right now...here's the scenario:

I'm heading north, going about a mile an hour, when some girl in an F-150 backs out right into my poor baby. She was in my blind spot, so I couldn't see her backing out, or I would have floored it the hell out of there. She said she will take full blame, and that a check will be written out for the amount of the estimate. Here's the deal. You all know me, and know that I must have my car in prestine condition at all times. What will insure me that my car will be fixed to the point where NO ONE will tell it was hit? Here's some pictures. I'm so sad, I wish I broke my leg or something, over this...anything but my car...why....

Sorry for the gigantic pics...I'm attentive to detail.

Oh man that sucks. It seems like it's been happening to everyone. :(

Take it to the best body shop you can find and get an estimate. My advice is take it to three and go from there. I doubt the paint will be matchable... but its a possibility. Maybe the whole car will have to be repainted. :D

Thing'sll be fine.. she admitted to fault and will pay for repairs... your 3g will probably wind up looking better than she did before.

MIK3
10-26-2004, 07:31 PM
Yeah. I might have to opt for that, re-painting it... I don't want to, but if it won't match, I guess I'll have to. I mean, I wouldn't mind a nice new paint job, that would be awesome. But I just want to make sure they do a hell of a job with the paint job, ya know? I have a feeling I'll be bummed about this for a while to come...

With my accident I was so pissed off and sad to see my car like that, but I fixed it and it was near impossible to tell that it had been repainted in that area. If you're lucky, they still make your paint color (they did with mine). If I could fix it, the body shop you take it to can probably make it look 10 times better (if it's a good one).

That is definitely an ouchy though...

Same thing just happened to my 96 blazer. The sorry ass body shop I took it too (selected based on 3 good references) I made them re-paint this thing three times(and three weeks) just to get the paint texture to match and still is only 95% acceptable. I told them if they did a good job I would let them paint my 89 lude, guess I will be looking for another body shop.

MIK3
10-26-2004, 08:33 PM
Sure, it may be fixable...to an extent. The fixed paint, smoothed out body, and new tail light will never be able to replace the mental and emotional damange inside me. This is the first bodily damage of this car's lifetime...a burden I will never be able to uplift. Let's just hope this body work specialist that I take it too will dominate and show his true skills on my car. And thanks Elijah for that comment man, I appreciate it.

Hey man, I had someone hit me in the ass end too this week. I feel you, it sucks when someone hits your ride. The insurance company wanted to try to total my car, but they cut me a deal. It's not the end of the world. :sadwave:

Way too much work? Who the hell cares if the other person is paying for it.

well thats 2 of us in less than a week. My neighbor accross the street backed into the sedan Friday morning. Its not nearly as bad as your damage and my 3 estimates are for between 975 and 1075. More than lilely even the lowest estimate will be enough to total out the car. Let the fun begin

Remember that it is the responsibility of the insurance company to put you back to the way you were before the accident.

I went through this with Statefarm and my fathers cars, they wanted to total out the car because it was less money for them. We had to file in small claims court but we got the $5000 we where asking for and didn't even have to go to court once thay got the subpoena they settled.

Just remember that you have to stand firm about the time and effort you spent and the reliability of the 3rd Gen accord. And that it would take no less than $5000 to replace it with another as reliable as the 3rd Gen.

They will try and wait you out. My fathers accident happened in Nov 03 and we didn't get the settlement until Mar 04 but you can file in small claims if you feel they are trying to play the waiting game.

I'll gladly settle for the book value of the car and be done with it since the coupe should be ready in a week or so and we planned on selling the sedan in the spring to get a bigger car. Of course I plan on pulling the motor and tranny out of it before they come to haul it away, if they decide to do so

i agree with getto, take it to the best shops you can find, or go to a Honda delar and ask then if they have a auto body shop that they take their cars to and would recomend. and how the hell cares if its to much work the girl said she was going to pay for it. and if she is going to pay for the damages out of her pocket make her signa agreemeant saying that she was responsible and she is going to pay for the damages she did you your car, and give her a date buy which she has to pay you buy that way she dosent try to screew you up the ASS and not pay you and take here to court.
and make sure you make 2 copys of the agreement one for you and one for her bouth sign by you and her. thats what some guy did to me when i hit his 04 BMW 530i. he took it to the bmw dealer where he bouht it at and they gave him an shop that they recomende. and he made me signa paper saying i was going to pay him back
when you go to a shop ask them if you can see some of their work and dont go by the one how charges the less go by their work

oh and if she complains about the price tell her it has to be perfect and that te car was perfect until she hit it and that is the cost of the car geting back to where it was PERFECT

Cheeseburger: Very nicely said. I couldn't have put it any better. The idiots who are saying just get the money for a total, and get a new car obviously don't read. I'm keeping this car forever...and just more cars whenever I feel like I need another one. Some people are dedicated to their cars, why don't people realize that? And for all of you who follow me in my ideas, thanks.

Yeah. That is a good idea about going to a dealership and seeing what body shop they recommend. And yes, if it's not in mint condition when I get it back, hell yeah it's going back until it's done right. If the girl's mom finds that she doesn't want to pay that much, I'll threaten them with taking it to their insurance (have all the info). They don't want to do that because the girl's insurance is already sky rocket high. I have a feeling, payment wise, it will go smooth. The damage should'nt be worth more than like $2400. I'm going today to get some estimates, I'll keep you all updated on what they come out to.

...a 5 gallon can of bondo will fix that up nicely. :D

If it was me I'd keep the money and pound out the dent myself, not the best way but sufficient.
GL getting her fixed up.

My neighbor backed into the sedan in a GMC Sierra step side. I think its more of an common sense issue more than or gender issue. As I told his insurance agent...

"Maybe you should send that boy to a proctologist. Having his head surgically removed from his ass might just improve his driving"

 ROTFLMAO!!! Sorry man, but that comment just killed me. If you're being serious and this is the worst thing that has ever happened to you, then consider yourself damn lucky. I don't mean to belittle your suffering, but it can get much worse.

Anyway, a good shop can repair that to perfection. The mental and emotional damage is another story... :)

It looks like my dad talked to a body shop owner today, and he said all should be fixable to it's original state. I'll have to talk to the guy one on one and see what he is capable of doing. I just want this whole ordeal to be done and over with, fixed and all. I'm tired of seeing my car in this state, it's dreadful.

It took me 3 days before I finally got over the fact my car is wrecked & drove it. I'm waiting on parts before I take it too the body shop and fix it. Hate that people look at my car and think it is going to stay like that, cause it isn't in the body shop right away. I'm cutting out the painter, so I'm saving a some dough. If someone else hits my car, they better have life insurance!

Well here's a little update. I dropped it off Monday night around 6:30pm. He started working on it right away, it was great. The estimate read about $1,500 in damage. It was funny too...

My mom called the lady that is suppose to be paying for her daughters fault, right. And so she wanted a my mom and my dad to sign a paper saying that this lady (Tami) isn't to pay a penny over the estimate. Ha! Stupid women. So my mom denies that offer. Then Tami "threats" my mom with going threw her insurance, and my mom says that it's ultimately her decision since I was the one hit. The stupid women tries to argue and says my mom was confused and that that isn't how it goes. Tami decides to call her husband (a bit more intelligent) and appologizes. He told her that it routinely went down that the person who hit the other person pays the estimate price and anything that goes over it until all damange is fixed, and that my mom was right about how it was her decision if we wanted to contact insurance or not. (She didn't want to go through insurance because the daughters bill was already $250 a month). People are so stupid. Anyway, we got an agreement from her, and will send her the final statment tomorrow, when I pick it up. I love having superiority with idiots. It makes me feel all that reassured that I'm not one...heh. I'll have pics up by monday or tuesday probably.

You know the same thing happened to me when this jackass passed me on the right and cut in front of me and a couple 2x4's hit the 3g. He said he'd pay for everything, then next thing we know, my DAD (the God of arguements) is reaming him a new one without ever raising his voice. The guys threatened us and my dad said that was his problem and he needs to pay. Our insurance went after him and we got I think $1,500. It took 6 months but we eventually got our money.

It's great having parents who care. Consider how lucky you are!

well those pics are way to huge for me, but I hope it will be back to normal soon.
And by the way breaking your leg is way woorse, trust me I have been there, and I'm hella lucky I can still do some of the stuff I can with my leg.

MIK3
11-05-2004, 04:38 PM
Yeah, I now regret saying I would have rather broken my leg. I just found out I made my varsity team again this year for soccer. Hell yeah. It's such a big weight off my shoulders. We get to compete in a national tourney in Florida as well, so I definitely didn't want my leg broken because of that. I'm still extremely bummed about this whole situation however.

Oh yeah, I got lucky too. Since the tail light was smashed, I had to get a new one. And he gave me the option of used, aftermarket, or new. I told him new instantaneously, heh. However, he looked three days and could not find it. So I settled for an aftermarket light, but this morning he calls and says he found one in Cali he can ship over. This guy's awesome. Heh. Monday I go pic her up! I CANT WAIT! Pics to come.
