Well it's already that the B16/18 intake manifold is compatible with the A20 after minimal modification. So my question is how hard would it be to make the B16/18 DC header fit? I would think that if the intake ports are the same on both the A20 and the B16/18, that the exhaust ports would be as well. Has anyone ever tried this? I know it nearly impossible to get a DC header for the A20 anymore, so it's time to see if we have any other options besides custom.

The exhaust ports on the A20 are vertical. The ports on the B's are horizontal.

But the O2 censors' location are different and that could be a problem. Also, you might have to customize your exhaust pipe for it to fit.

What does this mean Steve?

I figured that, but I wonder how bad it would be...

it won't work. the A20 header has 3 bolts on top and 4 on the bottom that hold the header to the block. and B series headers have 4 bolts on the top and 5 on the bottom.

PS. what Steve was saying is that the exhaust port on A20 is oval shape and it is vertical, but on B series it is horizontal.

they arent vertical :ugh: they are just narrow since there is only a single ex valve.
and that isnt that big a deal except the ports are not equal distance apart like 16valve motors. so you cant even redrill the flange

Yea cyl 3 and 4 exhaust port sits close together on a20a so it will never work.

also the tilt of our motor causes the tilt of the downpipe to be different... so you must take that into account or you'll end up hitting the oil pan or aiming the outlet pipe up towards the floor of the car or down towards the ground depending on the tilt of the motor your getting the header from.

Exhaust ports whould be easy to fix... I figure 2 - 4 stainless J bends or if you don't ming cuting up the existing header more... then just a single long stainless steel pipe. Just have a vise around so you can reshape the ports.

There will be a negligable amount of difference in tube length so you shouldn't have to worry about ending up with an unequal length header assuming it was to begin with.

Don't forget about deck height as well.
