they are making cars that are compatible with E85......you can put both reg gas and E85 in there...

yeah, i haven't seen any of this stuff around at most gas stations. was this her first time driving? cause i think it would have been a clue when she payed $250 for gas (i know its high, but not that damn high) and i would think she would have a normal place that she goes to anyway. oh well, i hope it works out.

There's probably a gas drain plug on the bottom of the tank :) I know around here you have to have your car equipped properly to use E85.

I got gas today at a gas station that said, "contains ethanol," is that the same thing? Or did your mother get gas at some special pump?

Drop the tank, empty the contents in a hazardous waste container and take to a waste processing facility, run a little seafoam through the engine with some gas, change the oil and add some leak sealer to try and restore any rubber components in the system, change the oil again after driving the seafoam sludge and contaminents out, and gas up. Try to be soft with the car and pull the plugs to ensure nothing obvious has happened. Also, change the fuel filter(s) in addition to the above steps.

the normal gas we put in our cars has ethenol in it, but its about 15%...the one discussed here was 85% ethenol.

ethenol = good fire show

still where did she get this at, dosn't sound like something that should be sold for street cars......

It is only sold in like 10 states.

And its for Newer cars that have the right equipment for its

Like fords new line of ffv vehicles. Anytime you see a new taurus or whatever witht he badge of a leaf and it says ffv it can run off e85 or reguler.

Its a cheaper alturnative to gasolene. but like this story. can be expensive to others.

They say e85 will take over the rest of the states by 07'

it's a good fuel, really... just not for engines designed for gasoline...

GM has a line of motors that are flex-fuel, ford, too... there are some others out there, i believe isuzu has an isuzu built flex-fuel motor, and i think VW has one or two themselves... it really is a good idea... what i want to know is how much savings is there at the pump? is ethanol like just a few cents cheaper at the pump, or is it like half? i mean hell, if gasoline is $2 a gallon and ethanol is $1.50, i'd consider a flex-fuel engine in my next car, as long as that trend stays...

I still don't understand how the idiots at the pump would put that in her car, they should know, unless she pumped it????

most likely she filled it up her self...i think what happened is like all women, prolly just checked the price, and thought that it would work for her car, and just pumped it in :S or she was in a hurry and didn't realize.

Hey Justin, Not everyone lives in Oregon :). HE HE HE, I remember the first time I drove up there, I saw this guy at the pump and asked "what the He.. you doing?" "No I will do it myself...What do you mean thats illegal?".

Every where else we gota pump our own gas.

Justin86
11-07-2004, 07:50 PM
yea and there is a drain plug on the most of cars, except for some newer hondas that have a plastic tank with no drain plug........ wtf?
and why it is ilegal to pump your gas is beyond me, some places like CFN and card only pumps you have pump it your self.
