Civic coilovers... might fit...

Well... I made a few trips to some automotive stores today... first one didnt have both 3g accord and civic (88-91) front struts, so i went to the next one, where the idiot told me they are the same part number... i kinda got excited but skeptical... so i took off to where I used to work, Partsource...

I have a buddy there who pulled them both out, of course different part numbers, but it looks like they might fit with some modification. The strut seems to have a slightly larger base, and is a bit taller... so I have another friend who works at a Honda parts wrecker... I'm going to get some front forks, and front struts from a civic in the next couple weeks and try to make them fit.

I hope they do fit as if they do, I will be buying Tein's come spring!... One thing though, I have yet to check the back, lol. :rockon:

Well alot of 4th gen civic members use front struts from our cars to lower their cars more. The accord strut is shorter than the civic one so I'm not sure on the affects of having a longert strut replacement.

caleb has civi coil overs. and uhhh the 94 and up integ fronts will do but not the backs, it'll be too small for our struts. don't kno bout the da coil overs tho. maybe.

i have those civic struts up front, it was a bit of custom work, i had to move the lower mounts up a good bit, and then i moved it too far and it hit the axle on one side so i had to move it up a bit. I am using the accord lower forks. It is a pain to get the struts in there because they are longer, but it was worth it. I have tokico illumina's in the front. I will take some pictures around thanks giving when i am back at my house where my car is. The end travel is about the same as stock.

I was looking into was Hayame coilovers which have a length adjustability. However this for me was more of a seeing if they fit, i just need to find out something for the rear, possibly the 90-93 integra struts, then i will get either tokico's or AGX's so i get a fully adjustable valve system.

and u sure u can't find 4th gen civic struts in calgary? i got mine easy from KS racing.
but i'm just running the tokico blues. what were u planning on getting?

Sounds good... are you using the civic strut, spring, and that whole assembly from the civic? And does it fit right on the forks from the accord? I'd love to see some pictures and more details on how you did this... Also... have you checked if the civic rears will fit yet?

I probably won't need to mod the struts, just everything around them, lol... Plus I plan to get full bodied coilovers... I was just looking for someone with the civic struts in stock so that I could look at the differences between the accord and civic struts for now... I need a bit of time before I start doing any actual work, so hopefully the weather will keep cooperating, cuz working on a car in the winter in an un-heated garage sucks.

i am using the strut. I will take sum pictures over thanksgiving break. they slip right in to the fork. Howver the struts are a good bit longer, so i moved the mount up and re welded it. A little sketchy, but it works. So the strut hangs down under the strut a bit. The first try it rubbed the axle on one side, so we shimmed it up a 1/4" and it works perfect now

my friend had 2000 sentra coils on his 92 tegra... so i think anythings possible

i got the 4g civic out in the garage.
i can get you full used struts for the 4g(88-91)civic with spring still attached or struts with cut springs (have the set sitting in the garage switched to coilovers with different struts) let me know if you need some parts.

the lude rear looks like the front, it has A-arms, it's unlike any other hondas of its era. if you need any parts theres a handfull of those here, even 4ws. I'd say replace the balljoints, night. The bushings are probably worn out too, like mine :mad:

The 2nd generation prelude uses struts for the rear (strut and lower control arm only), not upper and lower control arms like on the front and the front and rear of the accord. The setup onthe 3rd generation prelude is more like ours, but I think it adds adjustable camber.

i think H&R makes lowering springs for 3g, ive seen coil over sleeves and lowering springs for $100, ive also seen ADJ, camber kits too.
