Ok, so it started out kind of small. It's a ticking/clicking noise that is coming from the transmission. There are two reasons that I know this, I work at an auto shop so I got a few mechanics to take a look at it. This is what is happening. When I put the car in neutral (It's a 5 speed, 1989 Ex-i) and the clutch is not pushed in, there is a loud ticking/clicking noise which goes away as soon as i push the clutch back in, I was told that it could possibly be something loose in my flywheel or possibly some kind of bracket... They said it could be alot of things... well I got the day off today so I was going to take a look at it, but I'm no expert in transmissions so any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thanks again.

i think its the clutch or throw out bearing. you might be able to see something if you take the cover off the bottom (inbetween the engine and trany) but your more than likly going to have to pull the trany and look at the clutch. hope that helps!

That's the input shaft bearing making noise

Is the input bearing inside the trans itself?

yes

When you're in Neutral, the engine and transmission are still linked together. The input shaft spins freely inside the transmission. The noise you hear is the input shaft bearing that's got a bit loose over time and use.

When you press the clutch, the shaft is disconnected from the engine and the noise stops.

This is a common problem on Honda transmissions. It's an inexpensive part but you got to open the transmission to replace it.

yes, def input/mainshaft bearings. They will rattle like that for a long time, just drive it. Youd have to drop the tranny and take it all apart to fix it. not worth it, if you wanted to fix it, get another tranny

On the plus side, a bearing kit is $140 and it comes with all the gaskets and seals you need. Syncros are another $60, so for $200 you have a tranny for another 200k miles.

IDK dude it's like my trans is in good condition I mean it doesnt grind or anything so I would assume the syncros are fine alls I would need is the bearing kit I'm assumin. But if I got a different transaxle who knows what condition its in?
