Camber problem solutions for some of you!

I dont know if anyone had already done this or not but i did it about 2 months ago and decided to spread the news. If you got mad camber problems then this is a good way to fix it.

You can get the prelude upper control arms which will adjust about as much as the camber kit would adjust. But if you get the prelude upper control arms with the prelude ingalls camber kit you can adjust up to -1° to +3° which is a whole lot more adjustable then the accord camber kit 3/4° to +1.5°. This should fix anyones camber problems.

But dont get these expecting it to fix your camber completly because i tried to fix mine and the camber kit is so adjustable the camber kit will hit the inside of the fender if you have it all the way out! So if you want to fix it then you will have to do some modification to the inside of the fenders. I also found that the accord kit turned out to be around 130$ while the preludes was only 64$ for the front kit.

BTW: if you were wondering if you would be able to adjust the prelude upper control arms with the camber kit on it resulting in even more adjustability, dont count on it because they make the camber kit so you wont be able to adjust the prelude arms with the camber kit on them. well i have a 3rd gen prelude control arm while everyone has 2nd gen. They are pretty much the same and mine still has camber issues with 2" lowering. FOr my next car im getting the camber kits and not just a ghetto home rigged up stuff.

But one thing to note tho. When i had my whole control arm from the lude and i put washers on it and tried to use it. the end bolts that go thru the engine bay had bigger bottom end than the 3g one. This made it hit the inside wall near the mating surface in the wheel well area. So i dont know how you are gonna overcome that hurdle if u get the prelude camber kit.

ALso this is with the 3r gen prelude control arm, could not find the 2nd gen lude arms.

So your saying you can't adjust the prelude camber kit with the prelude arms cause of the way the kit is installed? I'm dropping my car 2 1/2" and was wondering if I need that same kit. Now I have to modify my fenders? How much is the prelude arms going to correct the camber? Are we looking at 1/2 to 1 degree of difference without it?

no, what i meant was once you put the camber kit on the prelude control arms you can no longer adjust the arms like you could before you can only adjust the camber kit. But it is way more adjustable up to +3 degrees instead of the accords camber kit which is +1.5 degrees. With just the prelude upper control arms and no camber kit i think it adjusts around + 1/2 to 1 degree like you said. I put them on and i didnt really notice too much of a difference with them until i put the camber kit on them.

I didnt have any problems like that with the 84-87 prelude arms by themselfs at all?

If you get the prelude camber kit you may want to do some cutting in the fender wells to get it all to fit right (if you have it fully adjusted out +2 to +3 degrees) like i had to do, But if you want to fix your camber you got to do things like that i guess.

yeah mine was out of a 88-91 prelude.

I am looking into camber plates mounted on the shock tower as other cars do. THe newer cars have that it basically moves the whole knuckle out by the fork and not by the control arm alone. but i have to see how that might work out.

praveen, if i'm not mistaken, camber plates won't work with our suspension type... i believe camber plates are for macpherson(sp) setups... up front, we have a double-wishbone... never really looked at the back...
