hmm...im pretty sure here in cali u'd get pulled over for the led, not like it would show anyways.

idea looks good, but try two round circles of same size side by side? (dont think it would work, cuz not enough room)

so what kind of actual light are you thinking of using? like a round reflector type? i'm getting the idea this is going to be made to fit into the rectangular mount where the original ones went. i had thought about doing something similar, but using projector lights. i've also thought about converting to a single round headlight like old rx-7's had. anyway, there's many possibilities to the designs we can come up with. would be cool to see this made into something real. i'll find the idea i had. oh yeah, the light is not on, that's just the light above reflecting on it.

I was actually thinkin on makin something from scratch, for the houseing.. You figure if the motor is not there, we have more room to work with.. as far as what I am goin to use.. I am not to sure... just thought about it last night, while I was doin my normal of not sleeping. I thought about gettin like cat eye driving lights, and then maybe something like that but bigger for the brights.. and then connect them to a junction box for the double lights.. it should work.. But then again, maybe I am just being crazy from lack of sleep... I mean.. if they are put in right.. they should fit perfect... and the LED.. it should not be a bother, I mean it does not have not have to be on.. it would run on a seperate switch.. for like showing off

that is close to what I was thinkin hondaboy. but not using the stock houseing...

I tried something similar with some Audi A6 projectors and xenons. The problem i had was the projectors were to deep and i could not fit the bi-xenon projector and retain the pop-up. So i would not have hi-beams but im still considering finishing the project since it was almost done before i sold the projectors and ballasts. Here is what i left off with:
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid107/p9983d9df5b762d931889cade10e55a13/f96105d1.jpg

Im probably going to do it because i love xenons plus i think they will be bright enough to get away w/o my high beams.

o man hondaboy, i posted in your first thread but don't even remember, this is exactly the idea i wanted to do. rob, hondaboy how did you guys take the front glass off the housing? i have the sylvana ones and it seems like they're glued down. also how would i fashion some brackets? would i drill into the sides of the housings? very interesting!

If you heat it carefully it will come apart. I have the eurolite ones with glass fronts so they came apart pretty easily. You can use a heat gun or a toaster oven as i did. But be careful the glass was really fragile on mine.

hmmm thanx, i'll have to find the old ones to fool around with and test fit. it's a definite go! i can't wait.

wouldn't you get huge wind resistance if you don't have the glass housing there?...not to mention a bunch of water in your engine when it rains?

or do you mean you're getting rid of the popups all together and making stationary lights?

Low Tek

yes, I would remove them completely. I have a few designs in mind. but it has to be molded to perfection..

upgrading your ground wires and using the H4 conversion lenses should give you something quite a bit brighter over stock.

Hit me up on AIM if you wanna chat.

Hey low tech
If you just do the H4's with the wireing upgrade, they are bright as hell.
I've got 100 watt Green Xenon H4's with the relay upgrade, they are a thousand times brighter than stock!

Hey low tech :pc:

I will have to look into the wiring upgrade.. is it somewhat easy stuff? I am not the wiring type lol

88accordhb
11-30-2004, 07:33 PM
wiring is not the hard part, it's the mounting.

3gn86lxi
11-30-2004, 07:49 PM
Mounting was a piece of cake. Ther is alot of room on the core support for a couple of relays. The wire itself tucks behind the headlight. Easy! I'll see if I can find a kit and I'll post it.
It's easy stuff though.
How do I post a link from E-Bay??

Low Tek
11-30-2004, 08:11 PM
hmm.. I think I know what you are talkin about.. so, just upgrade the wires to bigger and then should be np...

3gn86lxi
11-30-2004, 08:20 PM
The relays are important though. They allow you to get the full 12volts you need to really get good performance from your bulbs.
I've found the exact kit that I got, I just don't know how to post the link. Maybe I'll e-mail it to you. p.m. me with your e-mail.

now, space is still a problem i have run into with my ideas when i want to be able to flip the lights up or down. those projector driving lights i have are the smallest things i could find. what i think i'd have to do is cut out some of the back side of the old H4 housing and make the hole to the same shape as the projector, or how ever much is too long to fit into the housing. i dont know how big the H3 HID bulb is, but i'm sure its smaller than something like the hi/lo ones are for standard sized headlights. they should be some shorter. but i know there's more shit hanging off the back side. anyway, i found some more of those projectors on sale, so i'm trying to get them. the place closed early today, so i missed it. i'll probley try tomorrow. i was thinking i might put the next ones i get on as driving lights like my other ones. i dunno. here's how i put my projector driving lights as of now.

ok, my internet is being a douche. they must have messed something up today when they were messing with it because i cant go into my photo edit page on cardomain for some reason. i'll post a pic later though.

that's not for real HID though. thats a power booster if its what i think it is. you use your standard H4 type bulbs though. so not that great, they get nice and hot though.

this is what i was thinkin it was, but this is basicly the same thing i guess, power booster. made by JKL.

yep, and if i had the money i'd get the phillips one for low beams and have the driving lights done too. bet they'd shine really good with HID's, they already have a nice long and wide beam.

hey i remember that wiring kit. the non-HID one. looks like one i saw a Napa, it was made by APC. although i really hate their products.

Anyone ever think of putting light cannons like the Mistubishi 3000gt in the headlight cover?I went to an auto show recently and seen a Integra(forgot what year)with 4 light cannons in the bumper that he said he got off a wrecked 3000gt.They were really bright and were masked with sheet metal to hold the front casing. He said he has never used a leveling bar so much in his entire life.

another idea i had was to mount some lights where the "eye brow" is on the headlight lid. like cut that part off and put some in there, but they wouldnt be pop ups anymore. i went yesterday and got some more clear projector driving lights, so i dont know what i'm going to do with them. i'll probley mount them in the lower grill area for now.

This is by far the best conversion I've seen so far, and if anything was to be changed with our pop up lights this should be the way.:

I agree. That is one of the sweetest looking cars I've ever seen. Do you know if that is the original hood, just with the lights filled in?

that 'lude there is just about as close as it gets to that other idea i had. anyway, here's some pix of my projector driving lights. how i have them, they shine farther than the headlight. hope the pix are working, cardomain is messing up or something.
