EFI conversion, CAI, full exhaust (header, high-flow cat, catback, muffler), Cam regrind, coil, ignition, plugs, wires, upgrade fuel pump... then maybe upgrade injectors, do some headwork and/or Port+Polish your intake manifold... that is probably more than $1K right there...

Intake, header, cam and exhaust should fit the bill.

when you say CAI do you mean short ram, or a real CAI system? if there is a CAI system where can i find it?

CAI means cold air intake. i think you should search some more before you get flamed

look for the word "search" at the top of the page. click on it. then type in what you want to know more about.

well minus the head work, but port and polish and the rest would be good.

but with all those mods listed above you will deff. notice a difference in power...

a Custom CAI can range anywhere form 50-100bucks.
Exhaust piping and muffler can range anywhere from 100-500bucks.
A good header is hard to find..but if you want pacesetter that will settle you in around 300 or so.
Finally the cam is worth somewhere in the 100-200 range.

only guestimates on pricing, but thats a good start for your car with a grand.

88eyeguy: you're carbed... the best mod you could do is efi conversion, but it will involve the most work. If you stick with the carb, you'll need to mod a civic air box to run a CAI to your carb.

must I convert to EFI for cold air?

oh and before you start the grill, i prefer my steak medium rare and my flaming well done...me pyromaniac  :beat:

actually i'm thinkin of buyin an a20a3 and conv. the tank and ecu and all that to the efi stuff. i think that'll give me a little more freedom with the mods id like to do. besides, i'm gettin sick of my carb; even if it is just a year and a half old. it'll be a good way for me and the car to get acquainted.

good, nopionline.com has a pacesetter hi-flow cat system for about $170 is this a good exhuast system? i would really prefer the DC sports headers from what i've read on other threads.

saweeet! hey, performance noob question but for a daily driver what setup would you use 4-2-1 or 4-1

Cheeseburger
12-01-2004, 02:30 PM
im not sure you might want to ask A20A1 he made his own headers

88eyeguy
12-01-2004, 02:32 PM
aight, thanx

A20A1
12-01-2004, 03:43 PM
Daily driver is better 4-2-1... I made 4-1 but that was cause thats what me and my motor likes :D

Oh before you convert to EFI... and if you have no emissions testing then you may want to do one of the vacuum line removal stages. It just modifies the vacuum routing to minimize vacuum leaks and gives a little more response to the carb. You can also adjust the mixture. http://www.3geez.com/showthread.php?p=470503#post470503

i figured 4-2-1 might be better, i'm gonna wait till i can get an LX-i or SE-i to go illegal hehehe

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v148/adams86lxi/Meet%20pics/DVC00297.jpg sorry if its to big . t dont have the tools ta make it smaller

I haven't tried that, no. Better airflow i'm guessing?

Vanilla Sky

if you can, have a stepped 4-2-1 header built... that's the ultimate street header...

88eyeguy
12-01-2004, 05:45 PM
hmmm...only problem for the moment: money maybe in a year though...

Vanilla Sky

then do the cheap things now, then work up

things you can do on the cheap are a new coil, plug wires, flipped carb lid or homeade intake, and if you can get a good deal on it, swap to EFI... it's not uncommon to come across a wrecked and running EFI 3gee for $50...

doing that will be a nice improement... also on the cheap if you can do the work yourself is porting your intake manifold, and headwork... i know i'll be doing my own headwork, and i'm figuring a good 20 or so HP out of that... it's gonna end up costing me less than $150 for a job that should cost upwards of $500... the power of working yourself...

do a b16efi swap then cai and exhuast.

88eyeguy
12-01-2004, 07:04 PM
mmm...b series. would be hard unless you know of someone other than place racing that makes the mounts. but it can't keep me from dreaming.

88accordhb
12-01-2004, 07:11 PM
not the b16 engine, the intake mani and fuel injectors, like mikes accord

my bad im not a very careful reader sometimes. i see what your talkin about now. lemme look for a thread n the how-to on that. does that open the possibility of perf. injectors for the b16? and wouldn't that cause a problem for a turbo eventually?

88eyeguy
12-02-2004, 07:04 AM
well now. that looks like an interesting project. now flame me if i'm wrong here but the b16a comes from a 5th gen civic right? cause i live pretty close to a good junkyard and i might just try to go find two of those today. (just in case one is ruined beyond my budget and brains to repair)

88eyeguy
12-02-2004, 07:08 AM
oh and the turbo question still stands

Vanilla Sky
12-02-2004, 07:11 AM
doesn't bother a turbo setup, as for us it's all custom anyways... even if it were a kit, all you'd have to do is trim a little here, and a little there...

88eyeguy
12-02-2004, 07:17 AM
good, cause i'd like to get this finished in a couple of months and maybe start a turbo job next summer. i wanna be turboed by 2006. oh well for now i'll try to get this done as well as the exhaust. thanks for the advice guys!
