The speakers are 6.5" all front and rear. I had trouble getting 6.5"s in the front doors since they were to deep so i installed 5.25"s.

actually, the speakers in front are suppose to be 5.25" and back are 6.5" in DX/LX and 6x9's in LXi and bose in SEi's.

you can fit some shallow mount 6.5" in the front like infinities, and alpine's. not sure about pioneers, but im pretty sure its possible. i have boss 6.5" in front, they are huge, i had to remove the black plastic holder to fit them. and in doing so, my front windows dont roll all the way down.

i had pioneer 6.5's in my 3g, and they fit just fine. Also had Rockford component 6.5's in the rear, which also fit fine.

For the front I just took the black houseing for the speakers and cut the back out.Put the houseing back and my speakers dont hit the window. They are 6.5'' pioneers.

I have 6.5's in my front also, I just cut out the black backing out of it, it doesn't hit the window or anything.

in the front i have 6x8's i cut that back off so the could go in some more.
i belive the only 3g that came with 5.25 was the se-i or lx-i that was availible with the bose system.....

i have pioneer 6.5's in the front and back and there is no problem with the wundows going down or anything, all i had to do was remove the old mounting brackets an custom fit them into place.

in my 89 EXi i had to make my own ring mount....cut a ring out of particle board, painted it black, screwed it to the plastic and then fastened my 6.5s to it. had to bend the stock cover a bit to make em fit, but all in all not bad... but there cant be nything in the door pockets or else it buzzes

lol and that was my first post - cool site guys, had my 3g for about two years now... only 180 000 km

i was reading this again. the SE-i had 4in speakers in the front doors and 6x9's in the rear. i'm pretty sure they were 4in ones in the front, dont know what advantage that would have over the 6.5in ones in the other models. it was put into a little bass box lookin thing.

They were actually 3" speakers in a small bandpass enclosure. Stupid bose likes to do dumb things... i have mine sitting in my closet, can get pictures tommorow. The enclosure fits into the 6.25" opening in the door, but I now have 5.25" Focal component speakers there, which barely fit without the dust cap... The real hard part though, was finding a place where the tweeter would fit.

This was my setup... untill I moved it to my corolla
I had to make room in the black plastic too.

Only the passenger side was hooked up I had my other speaker somewhere else, or my friend still has it. I had other 6.5 speakers in the rear.. but they were taken out when I started to strip the car.
