well, I noticed it on the freeway tonight at like 90mph. the overdrive kept engaging and then disengaging (or se it felt like) and then later tonight the cars rpms would kind of shoot up as I was accelerating past 30 or so. It was doing a sort of double shift. Is this the sign of a dieing transmission? and if it is, whats a way to make it last this winter till I can swap it out?

hmm the lock-up valve is VERY sensitive.

Drain and refill, this time adding some lucas tranny fluid (about .5 to 1 pint). If it helps the problem, then look toward getting it checked by a tranny specialist in the near future as the lucas is a quick fix. Just drop the tranny pan with fluid and replace the filter while you are there.

I guess "lock-up valve" is a generic valve which controls Lock-Up (LC) clutch inside torque converter. Actually LC valve might be one of these:
- LC timing valve A
- LC timing valve B
- LC cut valve
- LC shift valve
- LC control valve
- regulator valve
Beside those six valves, pressure from:
- throttle valve A
- throttle valve B
- governor valve
also contributes to LC clutch control..
So if u feel ur LC clutch is ~~ then pick up one of the above, or some O rings sealing main shaft..

i've drove a few 3gee's and they have had they wierd problem of the over drive going in and out while driving. mine will do it sometimes. its probley not like the tranny will die on you too soon. maybe years from now. like mine, its not all that great, but it's been a long time since its been in this condition. and as for dropping the pan, unfortunatly we dont have a common type pan. you have to take the tranny apart kinda to get to the filter.

Sorry, it was a response geared toward another car as I no longer have an accord. I discussed this topic awhile back to some length...

yeah mine caused me problems... so i swapped in the 5speed (sorry, someones gotta say it). and after the auto caused problems coming out I took a sledge hammer to it, and dragged it around by the shift cable. I felt avenged for all of the bs that it caused me when it was in.

well, I fixed it. the second throttle cable became very loose somehow. one of the nuts wasn't tightened, fixed it right up. now I just need to figure out why my car just keeps turning over when I try and start is in 20 degree (or less) weather that we've been having. I think my fuel filter is clogged, and I feel bad in saying this, but I don't know where it is.
