Assume nothing. He may be used to dealing with a different car.

you can break them off but that'll leave small pieces on there. or pieces might fly in yo eye. trust me it'll be alot easier just to lift the car and take all the wheels off man. don't be a lazy.

i'm reading this wonder what the hell your exactly talking about. i'm thinking on your LX-i you wanted to the the small lug nut cover off the center of the wheel, hubcap. anyway, after that what are you saying about breaking the lug nuts off? like literally snapping them off the studs? i dunno, sound funny. just a tip, if you have trouble getting the wheel off after all lug nuts are off, like if it seems to be stuck on the car for good, lower the car and like jiggle the car some. actually loosen the nuts while the car's on the ground and that usually gets the tire looks if its rusted to the hub. dont know if that'll help, just if you have that problem now you know.

I think only 2 of the lugs (1 opposite to the other) hold the hubs on an 88.

grab a flashlight and look in the area around the lug nuts, if you see a little black ring around the base, that nut needs to come off.

hahahaha this is funny.

well ya like said u gotta take off all the lugs to take off the hub caps. the lugs have a lil black washer (rubber) thing on there that holds the hub cap secure. it prevents it from theft and also from popping off while ur driving (krazed drivers...)

on mine, instead of having all the lugs with black washers, i took the washers off two of them, so if i ever need to take off the hub caps (for cleaning) i dont have to take the whole wheel off :S (they are diagnally located).

but still im lazy i wouldn't ever take off the hubs caps....

so all lx-i 4 doors had wheels from the factory. my 2dr. coupe lx-i has steelies with hubcaps. i wonder why all lx-i's didnt have real wheels.
what about hatchbacks

nah, only the SE-i coupe came with aluminium wheels, the rest had steel. and the hb's, they all had steelies. i wondered why that was also, kinda rediculous. i'd think with a more expensive LX-i model you'd put a nice wheel on stock. they did have optional wheels though. found out these that i have were optional in an old dealer option catalogue. you can see at least one clearly in this pic.
