hmm..why???
oh and get this one of the guys at my job is saying, i should'nt put them on right now....
ehh what ever it's not like they're 18" chrome rims....

oh the tire's that i picked also are dunlops here's a link....

i had dunlops on my 86 they were pretty good....

allright guys...i think the original owner was like in his/her mid 30's or something..but wanted to keep their car styling.

here's why, when i had my 86, i put 15's on and the tire size's were 195/50r15.
and the wheel gap was the same.

i wanted to be the same on my new lx (1988)...

call me a newb but...when i put the rim on the wheel gap was smaller....
to be honest the wheel gap is smaller compared to my 86'.

and plus what got me curious is one...they had the shocks and springs replaced and it was costly...VERY costly.
plus the ride feels tight or tighter than my 86 felt and what my lx-i felt too.....
hmmmmm
can someone shed some lights on this.

well tire size does matter.

195/50/15 the wheel diameter is shorter than stock diameter. It is almost an inch shorter which will make the fender gap dramatically taller. It about an inch shorter in tire size.

205/50/16 is an inch taller than stock diameter. This is the reason for the smaller wheel gap.

The reason for your "tighter" ride is because of the upgrade in terms of rims. You have a 205mm patch of tire on the road versus the 195.

I would suggest getting 205/45/16 tires to match the stock diameter of the car in order to match the speedometer correctly. Right now if you were to see your tach at 60mph, you are really going 62.2mph. I personally care for these things as I like to have as accurate mileage as I can get to make sure I do everything good.

no no homey..i mean with my stock rims on..i ahve'nt put on the rim yet....
and like i had said before even with my stock rims on the wheel gap is smaller than compared to my 86' (that had stock rims on).
but yea your right about speed....
but i don't think i have my job has any 205/45/16.
if so they would have to order cause i looked.
plus i think with the new rims and tire's the ride will feel a bit more tighter and more secure.

It is a possibility that the stock rims had different tire sizes? are you saying putting the same exact rims on the other car? I'm a bit lost on what you are saying.
