How do I install a rpm gauge

OK, I got myself for christmas a tach 4". I thought it would be rather simple to install it. It olny had 4 wires; 1positive, 2for the lights, 3ground, and 4tach wire. I don't know were the hell is the tach wire for our car. help me please.
