Just got an 86 LX A/T.
What type of oil should I use?
Probably common sense, please don't flame. Yes I ran a search.

depends on what oil pressure you want to have...I use 10w40 because it runs a little better oil pressure than 10w30

you live in flordia .... so its pretty warm .... i would use a little heavier oil ... probally 10w-30 ... i use 5w-30 in my civic up here in mass where it gets cold at night ... its not so much what oil to use .... just change it often

10W-30 works well for me. Don't use FRAM oil filters.

dood......depnding on the miles you have on the car maybe....a car with over 200k on the clock will start to have oil leaks and oil will get past the valve seals and cause blowby with mobil 1....
Also you want to run thicker oil in colder temps
also I will agree with AZmike about fram filters....they are shit. I use a motorcraft filter and it works great

i dont think that mobil 1 will cause you to leak more, you might use a little more of it but you wont get random leaks because of it. It also burns much cleaner than conventional oil with much less deposits, and it flows alot better in cooler temps than conventional. If youre in colder temps, you wanna run lighter weight oil due to it thickening in colder temps

i used honda 10w-30 and honda oil filters...mainly because i work at honda. But I use 10w30 because california rarely get really cold. I bet my coolant can be water only.

and i thought it was thinner oil for colder temps to make it easier to crank.

yEAH thinner for cold weather he miss spoke

I go 10w-40 summer 10w-30 winter I use Havoline just cuz I have had good luck with it last 16 years I have been drving. There are better oils out there.

I run Royal Purple's 10w-30 with the K&N gold oil filter. Little more expensive, but I love it. Been using it for about a year and a half now. I also use Royal Purple's MAX ATF.

I use Castrol 10w-30 & 40 depending on the season. I would like to run synthetic Castrol, but is to expensive for my blood.

sorry about the mistake on the thicker in cold..... :uh:
I used mobil 1 in my b21a1 lude right after doing a 3 angle valve job and o/s valves at a local shop and it started seeping out of the gaskets that werent replaced because it digs into everything the shit is so good. I use it in my celica now, but I should prolly stop because it burns oil now.
dino oil is good enough ;)
