i just put a 6al on my lx. when it hits the rev limiter that cuts off the spark right? then wouldnt the engine flood with gas? wouldnt the carb still be putting gas into the engine with no spark? i havnt hit the rev limiter yet, i dont want it to die if it does.

yeah itll stagger the spark so itll fire each cylinder every other time (i think). Try it... It might get a little smokey (normal)

yeah, when i hit the limiter(6.5), my car pours black smoke! No biggie its just a waste of gas..

how well would a two step be? if im drag racing, and i hold the botton for the first limiter and the engine fills with gas, then the light turns green, and i let go of the botton, will the engine die?

i don't think it would be a problem because the rev limiter alternates which cylinders spark and which don't. so the engine slows down but excess gas doesn't build up in any one cylinder.

I use a 2 step when I race and its fine. 85's have no clutch switch so its wired in to use the cruise control to activate. (Its common wire them to the clutch start switch so they dont have to worry about button, one less thing to think about, let off the clutch and the limiter comes off. That does mean you loose the functionality of not being able to start the car unless the clutch is fully depressed) It won't stall you don't have to worry about that. Its probalby not good to be dumping that much fuel into your cat if you have one but performance wise you notice nothing when it comes off the limiter. Let it go and it revs like normal.

I thought that carbed models had no rev limiter? Did installing your aftermarket ignition add the limiter?
