yeah, it's not a bad motor...

a few things you can do to add power are:

intake
exhaust
camshaft regrind
port and polish
ignition

those are just basic things... a good buildup for an a20 motor can make it worth a good deal of power... i hope to one day get 200WHP at the wheels... wouldn't be blazing fast, but fun and reliable...

A20A1 is carb'd. A20A3 is fuel injected.

also for general export models, a2 is carbed and a4 is PGM-FI

turbo is nice and all, but i think it's more of a challenge to build 200WHP out of an NA motor than a turbo motor, even though in this case the turbo isn't as simple as a kit...

yeah but nobody has gotten any more than 140ish whp out of these engines All motor (let alone 200hp), there are a few guys spraying but id rather have my turbo ;)

yeah, but then again, nobody has really put a lot of serious work into an NA a20... i say with higher compression, a better ignition, ITBs, a tuned exhaust system, headwork out the ass, some lightening/balencing of the moving parts, and a few other non-trivial things, you can make 200hp at the wheels in this car...

of course it would be harder to build up and make less power than a turbo car, but i like NA, and i want to keep an NA car around, even if i DID go with boost down the road...

Justanothermike and the car he or his bro owns is pretty built up...

I think the trouble was getting an ecu to work good with the motor since it used parts from other motors...

If you go carb you don't have so much hastle. :D

i mean any cheapo mods like what intakes fit and or exhaust, well its got a auto transmission so i duun , i mean the engine had 150k on it so mabye light mods are good but nothing extreme like a turbo, i might end up selling it after this semester at school and get another accord or rx-7

our cars need a motor swap if you want to compete in the streets. If you only want to use it as a daily driving vehicle just leave it stock. I guess it the best choice. And my car makes 0-60 in 10 seconds stock!

rican, that is really bad information... a lacal member has an 87 LXi hatch, and it keeps up with modern cars, some with mods,, some with more power from the factory... the only mods he has done really was little ghetto rigging on the intake, advanced timing, coil, plug wires, and a few other minor things... he basically has a stock car... again, his car keeps up with newer civics, accords, he's beat a couple 240s... just because our motor doesn't have a high peak TQ doesn't mean it is shit... PLEASE stop spreading gross misinformation and start using the search tool every once and a while...
