I just recently had my auto rebuilt, but now it is acting very strange, if you hit the gas hard it acelerates just fine and shifts fine, but it you take it thru town and only put down about half throttle it tends to go up to 3k and then right before it shifts it will jump all the way up to 4k with out picking up speed, I was thinking maybe the kick down cable is to tight and making the motor kick down to soon, or something along that line.

no not kickdown, it might be that your shifter cable is out of sync.

The kickdown does control the shift points but it usually isn't the cause for slipage.

or they fudged on the rpm control valve inside the transmission valvebody (not sure which one but it's in there) pray it'll go away by playing w/ the cable slack
