View Full Version : do i need a tach adapter for my 6al?

i have a 89 lx with a msd 6al. i want to put in a tach soon but i was wondering if i need the msd tach\fuel adapater?

hmm I dunno... does the MSD 6 have plugs specificly for tach hook up... if not just hook the aftermarket tach to the coil directly...

hmm I think you only need it if you have points ignition. We don't use points so no worries there.

msd has a tach adapater for their boxes to hook up a tach, i dont know if i needed it. so i should hook it up to the coil? how would i do it?

No, you don't need it. Hook your tach wire up to the tach output on the msd box and you'll be fine. Here's a link to the instructions if you don't have them, should make everything clear http://www.msdignition.com/pdf/6%20series/6series.pdf
